so let me get this straight. instead of getting better, you'd rather make 20th place more rewarding instead of paying the guy who works the hardest to get good and full of knowledge!?!?!?!? or even turn it around, take money from the winner just to pay the guy in 20th more!?!? first of all, running 20th should be enough of a reason to try harder and not hang it up. you'd be ok with running 20th every weekend as long as you bring home more $$$? well i'd imagine! the first problem i see is the comment some drivers "know", their chances of being a "winner", are slim to none,. if your a driver and you walk in the gate with the mind frame of already being beat then you need to turn right back around and walk back out that gate. to me thats the same thing as telling your employer, hey I don't think I'm going to be able to make it to 40 hrs this week, I'm going to sleep in a few days. will you pay me for 40 anyways? unbelievable!!

Sprinter Fan,
I beleive the pay back through the field is to keep people involved in this series it is a series for entry level drivers and teams on limited funds, I myself see this as a series for the hobby racer and those wanting to get seat time to move up, If you pay a large amount to win then you get the big money teams with paid drivers coming in and taking it away from the lower end people.

Srpintfan, you got it all wrong dude, the guy that works 50 hours is still gonna get 10 hours of overtime just like the guy who wins is gonna get more. But the guy who works 40 hours is still gonna get his pay just like the guy who finishes last.

For those other guys who think you got to pay all the money up front, GO RUN with USAC or MSCS and come back and tell us how that works for ya!

You guys keep forgeting this series isn't for everybody, its for the Low Budget weekend warriors who want a chance to win a race with some what equal compitition.

Just because it doesn't pay a fortune to win doesn't mean there's no PRIDE in being the winner!!!:checkered:

Motormasher is very right in his last post. When I started MSCS there were new winners at that time. The first year I ran a slow car dash. I wish everyone could experience the thrill that old an young drivers, some who had raced along time, got when they got the checkered flag an their first trophy. One young driver slept all the way home with his trophy in his arms. That is what this is all about and why I do this. 2004 when I had the MSCS Support Series, the races were very exciting and competitive and there were new feature winners, who enjoyed copeating against there own level of competition. Open steel block rules may not be the long term answer, but we need to start somewhere and there are a number of cars in our area that already fit this deal. I look for this Series to grow once we get off the ground.

Sprintfan, let's try this one more time. Let's use the Chilli Bowl as an example. There can only be one winner, right, everybody else falls in behind, right. Now, believe it or not, there are a lot of racers, that actually race for the fun of it, and hope to bring home their car in one piece, that in itself is almost as good as a win, if you've ever been a driver, or owner, it doesn't take long to appreciate that fact. Not long ago, a friend of mine got into racing, his goal was to make every feature. About two thirds of the way thru the season, his goals had changed to, I want to make just one feature. It wasn't because he didn't have good equipment, nor was he a bad driver, he had won in other series, but he wasn't having any luck now. The whole idea here, is to keep the "blue collar" racers in the game, not price them out of it. There are a lot of reasons people race, and most of them would like to be able to continue, having fun, and at least trying for that win, don't take it away from them. because of the money. Bob

i understand what your all saying. that's fine, just because i don't agree with paying the guy that finished last the same amount as the guy that ran 8th doesn't mean a thing. but if you have a group of racers that care for nothing but getting the car dirty, putting on a good show, and going home with nothing less than $100 then great! hey if it's supported, then it'll work. wish it the best.
