Chris, as i read it no one 'knocking" this show, maybe a concern about the cost to seek admission. As for a 'true" race fan, maybe you should reconsider your assumption, alot of people that post on this board have been attending races long before you were concieved/hatched/born. Maybe they are 'true' race fans. These are JMO.

Mopar Million was $80. It's really not any fair comparison between sprints and late models. I know every year there is a $100,000 to win, 4-5 $50,000 to win, 4-5 $30-40,000 to win and too many to imagine $10,000 to win late model races. A big sprint car show pays $10,000 so of course the admission would /should be less. It's all relative. I am certain Chris deals with all the die hard late model fans who he tries just as hard to convince how great non wing sprint cars are. As soon as Sprints were added to the DTWC, all I read about on 4m.net (a heavy dirt late model forum) is how sprints don't have starters, always flip, will make the show drag on forever, to many red flags...
I appreciate both, but in many parts of the country late models and mods are all we have. So I go to Indiana once a year to see some racing. |

THis is a simple case of someone turning something I said into the worst possible thing. Apex is correct, I tell everyone i can that is a Late Model fan to check out a Sprint Car show due to the complete thrill of watching those drivers go balls out for 30 laps. I promote BOTH aspects of the sport, because ive seen GREAT racing on both ends of the spectrum. At the DTWC youre going to see the best of the best in all three divisions, and the $50 is the best deal in racing for this event. $50,000 to win and $2,000 to start in the LM's. $5,000 to win and $300 to start in the Sprints, and $3,000 to win and I dont know how much to start in mods. for ONLY $50. The only sad part is, that Lawrenceburg may only hold this event for one year due to all the things that happened within the past month. BDS Promotions, the group that headed up Tyler County Speedway in Virginia and held Carl Shorts other race, the "Hillbilly 100" which paid $41,000 to win for Late Models left Tyler County and took over the reins of West Virginia Motor Speedway and moved the Hillbilly 100 there. Early rumors indicate that both the Hillbilly and the DTWC will be at West Virginia Motor Speedway in 2010. Dave and crew need EVERY bit of support they can to keep this event here in the state of Indiana. Enter the Sprint Cars, they knew that Indiana was THE hotbed for Non Winged Sprint Cars, good business decision. So lets keep this event IN Indiana.

Mother Nature is wrecking havoc on another good weekend of racing. At home and afar...With the schedule change, as much as I want to see Late Model's on the high banks of the Lawrenceburg SpeedPlant, I think I have to pass. I prefer my racing under the cover of darkness. I'm sure its still going to be a good show though. DeanO' get down there and put it live on the NET...The Late Model's that is...
