How many D2 and chain drive cars showed up? Saw one USAC car listed and he ran 7th in the A main and I guess then they gave him first in the USAC race. Seventh is not too shabby a finish for a stock block car. Jim Jones you need to get in gear.

Jim said no tootsie rolls he's not going back. LOL. JUST KIDDING. E99 of Etgen was the highest finishing D2. Couldn't get much out of the announcer.

Workin' on it Bill; just about got the harness figured out so I'm hoping to fire it off by this weekend, if all the lights light up and the fuel pump hums...
A bad cold is clouding my memory but I tried to do a quick D2 count going through Brian McEvoy's pics and I came up with 5 Focuses (Focii?) and 4 chain-gangsters but I think Greg Watson told me there were 10 in all. Gage Etgen was the top Speed2 (that's Levi's preferred designation) finisher. Gage seems to have a good feel for that Henchcraft; he is consistently able to hang with the National cars like few others. Probably doesn't hurt that he weighs about as much as one of my legs, either

Have you downloaded a manual yet? You need to get a connector view of the ecm and for each of your sensors. Have you epoxied the rollover switch? Did your engine come out of a car? Several years ago I think some un named driver was racing one in Mini Sprints.

You need to also be careful as they start using the wire color & tracers over again and screw things up. If you have doubts check from pin out of computer to the pin in on the sensor. You got my number.

I have the manual downloaded, yeah, and I found a color wiring diagram online too that I blew up to fit on 12 pages. The harness was "semi" cut down when I got it; the tipover sensor and a few others were already removed but it was still full-length and when I first hooked it up I could only get power to the starter solenoid. Electronics is not my thing so I asked around and Andy Bradley hooked me up with Mike Garvey in your neck of the woods. He walked me through a few things over the phone but I knew I would be chasing my tail for days and even if I figured it out it would still look like a coiled anaconda stuffed on top of the gearbox so I sent it down to Mike for a Biggest Loser makeover. It came back Saturday (an hour before the gates opened at Montpelier), looking all lean and fit, all the extraneous sensors and plugs stripped off and diodes where they should take their place. Now I'm in the process of plugging everything back in and making a few minor tweaks to match up to my existing dash layout, then it's back to the familiar, belts, seat, chain, fluids; initiate launch sequence...

Sent the following to usac a while back... Evidently they didn't like this simple idea:

I have a thought to pass on to whoever you have running the indiana d2 deal.
The announcer at montpelliar is, well.... He's their announcer.

The only thing he knows is "longtime vetran johnny heydenreich". After that, not so much about midget drivers.

My thought is to tie ribbons to all d2 cars at montpelliar.
This will serve 2 purposes.
1. Fans will know what is what, and will explain why the "long time veteran" johnny heydenreich is running so far back (because he is D2) to those guys up front.
2. Those guys upfront might appreciate a small warning that they maybe catching the guy with the ribbon, than they would normally expect.

There ya go. Only really applies to montpelliar. But i think it would be an easy deal to help all.

Johnny seems to be having a lot of fun racing what he is racing at least the last time we raced up there he sure was. It is great having veterans like Hot Rod coming back into the sport to race with the kids, and D2 made it possible. I do think some form of marking the cars is needed at places like Montpelier. When several D2 cars are running up front with the big guys it would be nice for the fans to to be able to distinguish and appreciate them for what they are. The last time we raced up there they had to inspect our car to make sure that it was in fact a Mini Sprint. A good running D2 or Mini Sprint can keep up with a not quite ready for prime time Midget on the smaller tracks. Didn't Chet win a race up there last year racing his D2 car??

Harold and crew has done a real good job keeping all of their competitors happy, it is a nice hospitable and fun place to race. Sure wish Montpelier was a hundred mile closer to us.

Other D2 organizers should take note of Harold's success at Montpelier. By ruling out the older Midgets they are missing out on several cars. If they would look for the small tracks even if they had to share them with Micro Midgets. If they Restricted the ability to put that excess Horsepower to the race track by using a smaller right rear tire then everything from a 600cc upright mini sprint to a full blown old school Gaerte could race together and put on one heck of a show. Hopefully they would also be a little less expensive than the state of the art National Midget.
