Watching NASCAR on Speedtv.... Can you say "HYPE"

Speed has been filming every night at Volusia so far. I believe their feed is working the Alltel big screen in the infield.

Alltel is sponsoring the two week Dirtcar Nationals. They are running the online and/or text messaging voting. Every sprint/mod/late model driver that wins a feature can be voted for. The winner of the fan vote gets $12,000. So far, my vote is going to Wayne Johnson.

And Carl Edwards was driving Arpin's mod tonight.

I'm already tired of the non stop commercials for nascar on espn, and the season hasn't even started. There are nascar schedules all over the place at work. When I see one, I usually tell them if they want to see something that blows away nascar, go to Terre Haute some Saturday or Haubstadt some Sunday.

Yes, they are the HYPE masters, but apparently they are embarrassed to post their ticket prices.

I was thinking of going to today's race but I wanted to know how much it would cost.

I checked numerous sites (Daytona Speedway, NASCAR.com, ARCA website, Jayski, the on-line sports pages for the Daytona paper and the Orlando paper, Racetickets.com, etc). All I could find was that tickets for today's race were available at all ticket booths.

Finally, overheard someone talking about the race in the lobby and asked them what they cost. He said the tickets were $90:censor:

I guess they want people to take the time to drive to the track and then find out the cost (knowing half of them will stay despite knowing they will lose a limb or two). I'll find a Bar/Grill and watch the ARCA on Speed.

You can purchase tickets from people that already have them and want to sell them.

I use Stubhub to get Indianapolis Colts and St. Louis Cardinal tickets. I haven't used them for any racing events but I have found great seats slightly over face value.

Ticket prices were the biggest reason I stopped going to Daytona after 2000. That year I paid $95 for the Thursday Twin 125's, $90 for the NCTS and IROC on Friday, $135 for the Busch on Saturday, and the Daytona 500 cost me $175. $495 for four tickets and still had to pay for a room, food, rental car, and short tracks. I could attend almost an entire season of sprint car racing in Indiana for what I spent in five days in the "Put it where the sun doesn't shine" State.
