In anticipation of a 2025 Indy run,it would be GREAT to see Kyle attempt 1-3 of the oval races on the 2024 Indycar sched; which do not fall on days Cup cars race (I'm not gona research what time Cup Q is on these days tho...that could be a problem tho).
July 13th Indycar runs the 1st Iowa race on a Saturday, while Cup is at Pocono on Sunday. August 17th Indycar has a Saturday night race at the Gateway track in IL (Cup is in Michigan on Sunday). Saturday August 31st, maybe he could run in the State of WI promoted Indycar race at the Milwaukee Mile, and run the Cup race at Darlington the next day...
Any of those would be GREAT experiences & would help to increase ticket sales and ratings. Just a couple of years ago, Jimmie Johnson (who we can compare to Kyle in this circumstance; only for the part about them both being many time NASCAR race winners and former Cup Champions; who then went on to run Indycars: Both now Indy 500 RoY winners); had GOOD results in the oval races he ran in his final year at that experiment.
How great that would be, for Kyle to run some other Indycar races! I could eventually see him/McLaren (or maybe another car owner) wanting him to try a road coarse race too...
Hubie that reminds me of me having to apologize to my friend Stevensville. I realize that there are fans of the 500 and Indy Car fans, that are not necessarily the same. I thought the IRL was great because it gave people, who in my opinion deserved a chance to run Indy, but most likely wouldn’t get a chance, the opportunity. I had to beg forgiveness when I realized that CART, as a series, which many Indy Car fans were attached to, became splintered and some still think has done irreparable damage. Regardless of all this, what has been proven is that a guy from our favorite forms of circle track racing can drive an Indy Car. It used to be the path to the speedway and now is a needle in a haystack for a short track guy to get the chance. Thank God Kyle has the exceptional talent and he was given a shot. Unfortunately, I believe a short track racer will still be an outlier when the next Indy Car team is looking for a driver
IMO with enough testing Seavey and Grant could run an Indycar. They would need loads more practice than Kyle got this month..... Larson hardly got any track time which proves he is a seat of the pants type of driver to begin with. He also had outstanding engineering and driver support from people with tons of experience.
You have to have a good engineer and communication. I saw Steve Kinser take laps in 1978 and crash the same day. Indy cars are unforgiving. Steve was with a car in which no one involved had much experience. Sammy Swindell's effort with Patrick Racing was a real head scratcher. When Sammy was at IMS it was with John Buttera and ground effects were very new, not to mention they had rocker arm motors (oh how I wish I could hear those things run again, my God what a sound) but keep in mind Larry Rice, Pancho Carter, Bubby Jones, Bobby Olivero, Little Joe, Gary Bettenhausen (I'm going way back with this one) all got with decent to good teams ran a bunch of laps of practice and put a car into the show.
It can and has been done. Look back thru the grids of the past ten years and look at the guys who were one and done, disappeared. Stingray will be one of those along with three to five of the Hobos. Racing is paid for by rich people.
The current Indycar caters to the people who bring money, do the race and move onto something else (making more money!) Hot Rodders and Daredevils it ain't!~

Sadly, that's pretty much ALL that it takes these days. I'm not saying that the current drivers lack talent, but for a price there's a car for just about anyone. Even if they win a race or two, as soon as the money dries up, that car will be gone just as fast as it appeared. I suppose this has been the case for a very long time, but it seems to be more obvious than it used to.
