The racing world has lost a great one. Dwight's knowledge and passion for racing was very obvious in conversations with him. He will be missed.

RIP my fellow IOW'er..... I did not have the pleasure to know him but seen many of posts and his love for this sport was seen through the hours he spent at the tracks and on this site.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family....

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and sharing their heartfelt memories of my father, Dwight Clock. It was only recently that I began to have a relationship with him and to get to know the man you all hold in the highest regard. I am so happy to see that he touched all of you in such a positive way. I can not tell you how much it means to see that my father has touched so many people and was such a good friend to all of you. There is no doubt that he has an undying love for the world of racing, recently he was able to take a job at the IMS museum. It was his dream job. In speaking with some of his co-workers from the museum, i can see that in his short time there, he was extremely well liked and admired for his friendship and the knowledge that he was able to share. I wish i was able to know more of my father but i will cherish the short time that we spent together and all the help he gave me. Despite his numerous health issues he did find the time and strength to visit with me several times during the past few years and it was during those times that i truly got to know my father. I will never forget the time that we spent together, i will cherish it forever. RIP dad. Love ya

RIP From the West Coast. His Library must be bigger than mine! We did laugh about the kids not reading any longer. I bet Dwight and Boston Bob are together enjoying East Coast racing stories! Prayers to you and the family! The last:checkered:

IOW has lost it's voice of reason.

I am reminded of a story told many years ago about a race driver dying and going to heaven. Upon his arrival, the driver finds a beautiful dirt track with a pearly white car with a No. 1 on its tail tank throwing rooster tails to the sky.
The driver looks astonished saying, looking at the angel. say, "Oh no. Is A.J. Foyt up here too?
The angel smiles and says, "No. That's God. He just think's he's A.J. Foyt."
Now, Dwight Clock has one of the best seats in the grandstand for those races with the rest of the angels.


RIP Dwight, and Godspeed.

I see where Dwight made over 1,000 posts here. I would be interested in seeing his obituary. I am sorry I never ran into him at a racetrack. I always hoped I would.

There is probably a great race forum/meeting in the Heavens. You know Dwight is there because we knew him as one of the good people. I bet all the drivers and fans that made it to Heaven are at that meeting.

Many times when the forum was out of control, he brought the conversation back to sense.

:checkered:From what I could tell you about Dwight I am sure he would probably prefer that we celebrate the checkered flag of an outstanding race than cry about a little dust. One poster earlier said that the world is a worse place because we lost Dwight. Not to disagree but I would say that the racing world is a better place because we had him.

I have to admit I am a little envious of all that Dwight saw over what was the great days of sprint car racing and only pray that in however many years that I may have on this planet, I get to witness half of the racing greatness that he did.

I worked with Dwight at the IMS Museum this year and echo many of the thoughts remembering him. The only thing he loved better that auto racing was the people involved in this great sport. He was so looking forward to going to Jungle Park and Winchester at the end of this month. He will now watch from above.
