[QUOTE=Ovalmeister;90219]Cheryl Glass was a pretty interesting story. Although she only ran in one dirt champ car event (car broke, she finished 21st) she had one hell of a life.
She didn't actually die of cancer. It probably would have been better if she did. She died in 1997 in Seattle. Pretty sad stuff. Read more here: http://community.seattletimes.nwsour...3&slug=2550921[/QUO that story seem's fishy:confused: david, i guess i should have asked you direct but i thought a new thread about her would be interesting hope you didn't mind. |

Not to change the subject, but Milt Harper (pic next to Ms. Glass)! Ha! I always remebered some guy with that goofy stache that raced a Midget. I remember because he had an open face helmet (when pretty much everyone had full face helmets by now) so his stache would not be affected.. I guess??
I could never remember his name, but the picture of him coming down the straight-away on some pavement track... Mustache a blowin' in the breeze, is still a vivid memory!! Cool Pics!!:thumb |

Here's more about Milt from a guy named "indyrjc" over on the trackforum messege board. David. indyrjc quote: BTW, you have one photo under "80's Dirt Champs" that is captioned as "Bob Cicconi and friend". That "friend" was a guy named Milt Harper and he actually drove an Indianapolis car in practice for a race at Pocono. In addition to being a photographer Milt had some very limited midget experience in (I think) BCRA and some SCCA runs as well. In 1980 he somehow got the officials to let him practice in the old Antares Indy Car for the Pocono 500. He never even got a chance to attempt to qualify as the Offy engine in the car blew up before he could really get up to any kind of speed. How they even accepted his entry is still a mystery. He must have brought some money of his own and CART must have really thought that they needed cars is all that I can figure. |

If my memory serves me right, she raced at the winternationals in 1981 at East Bay. I can't remember the car she was in, but I'm thinking that is was a Speedway motors car.

Correct. Teammate to Ron Shuman. Mark Todd worked on 'em. Wings one weekend, non-wing the next. Wolfgang won both.

I've got a picture from the Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2006 that is a black car, cant see the number, with a old Chrysler Hemi in it she drove evidently. The had a display on her set up that year. If I knew how the hell to post a pic on this site I would show it.:headbang
