Here we go again the great USAC just adopted a tire rule for their .25 midgets and guess who gets it. Hoosier.

I'm sure it was a exhausting search.

Did anyone think it would be anything different?

Just like anything else, whats the use of being annoyed by it? Shake it off and go have fun. The kids don't know any difference and don't really care unless they take a cue from the adults and mirror what the adults say. They just want to race and have fun and the longer they can focus on the racing and not have to deal with the ********; the happier they will be.

I agree with Scott on this one Dortch. This tire battle isn't yours so let it be and move on. Didja you go to Oklahoma last weekend?

NO Don thats a good thing. When we ran the Vega Tire. Which was the tire to beat. It lasted two races thats it! It caused excessive biking on the cars. I for one am glad to see it. less exspense on the wallet and a little easier on the brain, ( not having to guess on a tire compound) The spec tire was decide through a series of testing done with a few different drivers. The last I had heard it was down to two Firestone and Hoosier. This was due to performance and how long the tries were lasting.

Guys, there was a lot more put into this than just USAC picking who they wanted. After tire testing at Kil-Kare and Kokomo, (I think there was more but I'm not sure), two companies were picked, Firestone and Hoosier. Clubs that are USAC chartered were given a choice to vote on between the 2. From what I heard, the clubs that are close to large UAW areas voted for Hoosier for nothing more than they are American made, nothing else.

My opinion, Firestone, better tire, Hoosier, better company that will do more for the sport.

I'm for a tire rule, but just because there's a tire rule doesn't mean that it's less expensive on the wallet or the tires last longer. I'll hold out my compliments on the tire rule once it's proved the tires will last 5-6 races, be readily available to everyone, and not cost twice what others do. In addition, its nice to know all those other tires that USAC clubs have are now worthless immediately.

USAC .25 MIDGETS ADOPT HOOSIER SPEC TIRE FOR 2009


The United States Auto Club's new .25 Midget Series will compete in 2009 on a spec tire from Hoosier Racing Tire of Lakeville, Ind.

Approval of the tire followed extensive testing, assuring the series of a reliable American product which would serve to curtail costs for families as well as create a level field of competition for young racers.

"The selection of Hoosier as he manufacturer of our new spec tire came after careful evaluation of tire quality, raceability, costs, engineering and marketing support," said USAC Developmental Racing Director James Spink. "After review and discussion with host .25 clubs, Hoosier was the overwhelming choice for USAC. Working with Hoosier means working directly with manufacturers and with them in our backyard it provides a big plus toward insuring quality in delivery and supply of tires for our participants."

Hoosier Racing Tire offers over 50 years of race tire development, including local technical support from specialized product managers who are in daily contact with engineers uniquely assigned to the .25 line. USAC members will also benefit from Hoosier's extensive network of 13 distributors throughout the United States and Canada.

Additionally, ample tire supply throughout the season will be guaranteed, with USAC controlling tire specs to which Hoosier will commit to maintaining the highest quality and consistency, while supplying trackside support in their effort to have a hands-on approach to USAC .25 as it grows and develops.

"Hoosier is proud to augment its affiliation with USAC and providing products for its .25 Midget competitors extends our commitment to the sport," added Hoosier's VP/Marketing Dennis Sherman. "We look forward to the benefits our tires will offer to USAC's members and to working with them to make their racing experience more rewarding. It is our hope that during these difficult economic times that "Made in America" still invokes pride and confidence in a domestically-made product."

Since I am an avid QMA supporter, I hope some ofhe usac .25 folks come and play with us some this year also. I will get to run my sprint car more than last year because I will not be at a quarter midget race every week like I was last year.

My dad and I are going to have 2008 Heavy AA Eastern Grands National Champion The Farmland Flyer Zeke Lewis, drive our 305 at Attica, Fremont, and some non wing shows at Waynesfield.

I really hope we all can play nice, and grow the best keep secert in motorsports 1/4 midget racing, not .25 like some would have everyone think it is.
