The only way to know if this will work is to give it a shot. I had concerns initially on Macon and Kutztown on the viability to race 20-24 sprint cars on a small track without major carnage. Both seemed to work out just fine. Would IMS and/or the fans be in favor of modifying/expanding the track slightly by making it more of a D shaped oval for more racing room? Thoughts?

Another wrench I will throw into the pile is that it is during Cup weekend and the last time the NASCAR people were in town they stood the entire 39 laps of the BC39!!! Don't want to experience that again so count me out!!!

Count me in! This thread kills me. Less than 2 weeks ago, people were on hear saying USAC missed the boat. They were referring to the WWE type racing event at the dome in St Louis. It was an expensive ticket with paid parking and big event concession prices. I heard nothing but praise.
I have no problem with anything with this event. Last year a buddy and I went to the BC39. We had great seats. We parked in the north 40. Our total cost for 3 nights was $85 each. They were $25 each for the first 2 nights, and $35 for the last night. That is cheaper than attending 3 similar races at other tracks. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me. To top it off, they refunded the money for our Thursday tickets, even though they ran the event. I have never had any event I have ever attended do that. Hard for me to say that it is not fan friendly.
I still have some health problems; it requires me to change dressings several times a day. I have to go to my car to do this. During last years program, I made one trip to the car during Thursdays program. Both of the next 2 shows were made up on Sunday. I made a trip to the car once during each show and once between shows. It was easy and I did not miss one lap on the track. Not quite sure how anyone can call that inconvenient.
As far as beer prices go, I am sure they are comparable to the prices at the World Finals at Charlotte. I have never heard a lot of complaining from people who have went to that. One thing I love about this event is reserved seating. Eliminates the blankey game, where everyone saves more seats than they need.
Another plus to this is no support classes. I will pay extra for that.
Chief, I am not sure where you were sitting, but with the grandstands pointing slightly to the south, I havent really had that much trouble from the sun there. I have definitely been places it is worse.
As for coolers. State law does not allow them there. There is an exemption for tracks 2 miles or more in length. Besides that there simply is not much room for coolers in the seating area.
I personally think a lot of you just try to find a reason to complain. You must because it is the same people over and over.

Right on Brent. I can't believe all the complaints on this thread. We get a "first ever" race and all everyone wants to do is find something to complain about. When was the last time the BC 39 was on NASCAR week? What year? How can someone tell "the NASCAR fans" stood, who they were? I carried a bag of food and drinks in last year, not a cooler. I saved $$$. If someone can't cut back on a beer, that's their choice. Maybe everyone on IOW should invite Doug Boles on a zoom call so they can air out their complaints. Sad.

Beers at World Finals were $13.50 for 16oz cans but they did allow us to bring in coolers which saved us a ton of money. Gateway Dirt Nationals was another story.

Didn’t CJ already do that? I’m not sure my buddy Brent was directly replying to me, but I listed pros and cons. The hallowed ground that is IMS forgives some sins. But to think that costs aren’t a factor, and to say the setup for parking is no issue sounds like, well something MSM might say. Parking as set up is not convenient. I’m fine with cutting back on beverages, to the point I won’t buy one. How does that work for them? I’m not saying don’t do it. From where I stand it takes consideration. As previously stated, Paragon would’ve been a much better choice, not only for our type of crowd but for a known commodity for racing. I’m not afraid to spend money going to the race’s, but I’m only spending so much per year. Now that Calistoga is reopening this year, I’m considering to that. In which case I won’t be going to some other races. Here’s the good thing. It will be successful if I’m there or not with the Nascar crowd. Problem with that is few of them will go to another USAC race this year
