It was refreshing to see a new face in the sprint car ranks Saturday night at Haubstadt. There was a very enthusiastic crowd of twenty or so mostly female supporters in the backstretch grandstand, all nattily attired in Ryan Bond tee shirts. Unfortunately, Ryan didn't make the feature and the entire group left.
Does anyone know anything about him or his racing background? The announcer said he is from Haubstadt. Hope he comes back as we need new faces to replenish our sport.
Ron Ryan ran last year too, which I believe was his rookie year, unfortunately he was up against Chase Hayhurst for the rookie crown, and Chase won the title . I think the guy has really stepped up his driving game, which is a tough nut to crack at any race at Haubstadt do to them either being a MSCS or USAC sprint week race. I"m not sure what or if he has raced anything before.
