I posted a while back about helping Larry Boos clean up garbage after the races and i was asked here on the board if i was gay. Guess who asked me that question.
The respect SUPERDUKE has coming from his past sounds admirable but what he is doing on here lately is making it very hard for people to send him any respect in present time. Hopefully this post doesn't rub anyone the wrong way.
At first, I thought Duke deserved a certain amount of respect, since he had driven in USAC's heyday. Maybe he would offer this board a different perspective and benefit it with his experience. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. And though Duke often turns to his favorite subject (homosexuality) when someone disagrees with him, when he did it to Tim, that was the example that crossed the line, IMO. Since that is a member that has been here since the beginning and has always treated people with respect.

I quit reading the Eldora Dirt thread weeks ago -- about the time the insults started. I was pretty certain where it was going, and it seems it did.

RESPECT and how a lot of posts on here get completely off subject and go to personsl attacks. I have a friend that is starting to go racing with our family and my boys. (both as part of our team and some as spectator) I told him about this site and one of his first comments was - "Is all race fans so negative and like that.?" Of course I told him NO. But it was a hard sell with his 8 year old sitting beside him with all the creative typing words that go on and all the personal slams.
Now let the negative fly

I'm not going to defend Duke's reponses/posts on that thread other than to say that things started getting out of hand when his veracity was challenged. Duke claimed to have been located in the 4th turn and another poster insinuated that Duke was lying about being there. That's when Duke went on the defensive/offensive and it spun out of control from there. Why bait the guy at all? I'm willing to take his word for it that he was there and experienced what he experienced. Really, why challenge him on that just because you didn't see him?

Cecil,
I am not trying to start anything here but I beg to differ with you. The name calling started well before anyone questioned his veracity. In fact, I was quite surprised the thread lasted as long as it did. If he wants respect, all he has to do is show some in return. Name calling isn't going to cut it though.
Like it or not, every persons reputation is on trial everyday. He obviously has issues with Eldora and the track management. He needs to address this someplace else besides on this message board. I will treat him no differently than anyone else on this board.
