Bob Harkey at Van Craft quite a few years ago working on one of the Caruso midgets. Bob was a regular at Vans shop, and thats where I met him. I took Bob to lunch a couple times, and one of those times we ended up at the photo shop at the Speedway where he was looking for a particular photo. He told me about what he did for work in between driving at Indy, and showed me photos he had of him playing Paul Newman's double in the movie Winning. That was a fun afternoon.

RIP

Had sat at the same table as Mr.Harkey and his wife a few years back at a Speedway. Me being from a different era of 500 fans had know idea who he was. He said he ran at the Speedway I was star struck! Was super nice and great to have met him. God speed.🏁

Up to now one of the few living drivers that raced a front-engine car and a rear-engine car in the Indianapolis 500.

Rest in peace, racer.

I met and talked to Bob when he came to my high school as a part of the Champion Spark Plug Safety Team. I don't have a great memory, but it was somewhere around '67 or '68 I think.

RIP Bob.
