I wish I was 20 years younger I would be pushing you. You don't seem to be making much of a wave in the Mid West but it sounds like you may have struck a nerve in the Southern States. You are on the right path to keep things moving. The nay Sayers with more knowledge than sense are trying to read way way too much into your idea. Most of them after bashing you for being so dumb will have already moved on to new and bigger endeavors, just remember you gave them an avenue to get started.

What If in 10 years you can't buy a Focus or Ecotec motor for love or money what are your options. Cast new and improved designs like the National Midgets are doing with the Pinto Motor, Or see if the new technology can be raced. The latter will be more cost effective.

We need to convince the National Midget organizers that there are also motors on the road right now that could be very competitive in their class. Right now they can be found in some of the light weight V6 cars out there. They too have developed light years in advance of the Pinto Motor and could be made to be very competitive at a much more reasonable cost of Modification. What is really so remarkable is that these little forced induction 3 and 4 cylinder motors are coming on line right now to replace the V6 motors. We should also not forget our chain drive cars also. Kawasaki has introduced a forced induction 1000cc motor capable of 325+ Horse Power right off the bike and it would not surprise me to see some racer give one of these little monsters a try also. The same rule rules used today should still also apply. These little motor leave the factory in a very high state of tune thus all of the horsepower so a 2 to 1 advantage in displacement should be sufficient for parity between automotive and cycle engines.

A 325 hp kawi @ #900 would give about any current Midget a hard run for the $$$$$$$

Why is it when you get old you see things so very different than you did as a kid. I remember guys racing Flat head fords thinking they would never die "Flat Heads Forever". Then the little Chevy came along>>>From 1932 to 1956 the Flat Head was king that was 30 years WOW ! But then the little Chevy goes from 1956 til today that is almost 60 years Double WOW. The Chevy is now being phased out of production and all kinds of neat motors are out there just waiting to be used and racers are setting on their hands. I really don't see any motor living longer than the Chevy. With today's concept of improvement and development 10 to 15 years will be max.

Chevy came out with the 265 CI Small Block in 1955 but nobody ever took much interest in them until actually 1957 when they upped it to 283 cubic inches. Jim Hurtubise was one of the first drivers racing sprints to make it competitive against the then mighty Offy. Racers then figured out if they bored it to 4" they could turn it into a very competitive race motor that they called a 301 back then but now all of us enlightened racers now call it a 302. Go figure???? We no longer really need the old OEM stuff because we now clone them in China. But when all is said and done their time is growing near. It has been an amazing engine but I think racers could do better.

Well....using that train of thought electric is the way to go.

Chris, my TQ came very close to having an electric motor in it, about 5 yrs ago, I was approached by a long time motor builder to put one in, they would furnish everything, engineering, batteries, anything, then the economy took it off the table, and I was ready and willing, wish it coulda happened! Bob

That's my point....if we are going to make changes....let's make changes.
