At 1PM tomorrow, it is 90% sure I will be filling the HUGE shoes of Rex Kirts and covering all of the action at the Bloomington Speedway for the Herald Times in Bloomington. Hopefully I dont make a mockery of what he did for the past 40 years.
I am stoked!! Sorry guys, its the best news ive had in a long time, just had to share it |

Glad to hear that you'll be our new racing sports writer Chris. :applaud: As you know Bloomington Speedway had their opening night race last weekend and we didn't get the write up until Mondays paper and it was $hi!!y at best. So good luck with these people all they want to publish is Bloomington South and IU sports. :headbang

Well being a Bloomington native... there was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much coverage of local dirt talent I could hardly stand to read the Sports section.. oh wait... there really wasn't crap besides napcar. Good luck and hope to see photos and write ups and such.. it will be a nice change in the HT. Congrats.:thumb

Actually the best news you have had lately is your son being born isn't it? With that being said, congrads on the H/T position, and yes we will expect MORE coverage than in the past! Watch out for Chuck Welsh:rolling

Congratulations, Chris! I don't read the Bloomington paper because I live in Evansville, but I am a patron of Bloomington Speedway and I want to see it receive all the positive publicity it possibly can. I am concerned by the development that seems to be getting ever closer to the third/fourth turn area. Having support from the local media can have a very positive effect and perhaps keep down complaints about noise, etc.

Chris,
I just found the online edition of The Herald Times and I will make a practice of reading the happenings in the Bloomington area.
