Attended this event one day after celebrating my 29th birthday. I chose to bring this one back for reasons which will become obvious a bit later. Old timers here will agree that this was a high quality field of cars and drivers.

+Again, I didn't get the complete 24 car rundown. Scoring takes a special talent and Sandy Lowe ( she's the best) I'm not. Plus, I probably had lots of Burger Beer sloshing around inside.
+Memory fade here on the Jim Smith in this race. Not sure if this is the same driver who left the park at Dayton in '69, retired, but came back only to be fatally injured at Eldora. Anyone??
+Bobby Christian, as most here know, is the father of Kent Christian. At least I think that is true. Again, memory sometimes plays tricks on old dudes like Danny and I.
+I'm told that the late, great Chuck Amati was a big fan of Dolly Parton ....and weren't we all?
+Don't recall many details of this 100 lapper except that a bunch of favorites dropped out early but I think Mr. Kinser had them all pretty well covered all night anyway.

+And now for the reason I found this 'Burg racing night special (I reserve the right to make that designation ):

In stock car action, a young charger, and now good friend, John Mugavin (know here as WallbangerII) qualified quickest, was 2nd to Pat Patrick in the fast car dash, and came from the tail (23rd) to WIN the 100 lap feature over Chick Hale, Dale Richardson, Calvin Dean, Ed Henry, Vern LeFevre, and 16 others.

One more 'Burg race from the past to follow. Then it's back to USAC oldies.

Indiana tracks back in the day were famous for those 100 lappers and Paragon ran a 125, or 150 lap race I think at one time. This was an all star lineup OK. Thanks for the memories.

Was 11yrs.old at the time but lived to get to the track on the weekends. Those were the good old days for sure. Also remember the triple 50s they used to run. Now if my childhood heros of Roy Robbins and Ross Smith had been there would have been complete. Attended the 150 lappers at Paragon. Quite a site to see. Thanks for the memories.

I think I see 2 or 3 Indy 500 starters in that group.

I Liked Nordhorn back in the day. I recall he finished third in USAC championship one year. I can't remember the year though.

Marv, a memory ck, looks like Sheldon was driving for Brewer, #14, they had that number before AJ made it popular, and was Or Ville driving his rear engine car, poor ole Boom Boom, watched him a lot at Paragon, and don't see Alan Barr on your list, think he kinda favored Paragon, or at least Jack, his car owner did, used to help them guys once in a while, when we weren't on the road. John Mugavin...one of the nicest guys you could ever meet...honored to call him my friend. For those of you who don't know John was one fine late model driver in his day!!

That is one stout group there, that's for sure.As for Paragon, it was 150 laps way back when.Saw a huge fire on a pitstop one night in that one of those 150's.
