Road to Hewitt Classic thru Gas City this Fri

Four stops left on the “Road to the Hewitt Classic”, starting July 2nd at Gas City.
June 27, 2010 WAYNESFIELD, Ohio Four more stops remain on the mini series sponsored by Hoosier Racing Tire leading up to August 7th's $4000 to win 2nd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic at Waynesfield Raceway Park, and these events my be the most important, as the winners will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the Hewitt Classic A Main. Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City Indiana will serve as the next stop on Friday night July 2nd, with Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, OH on Saturday July 3rd, Eldora Speedway in Rossburg Ohio on Saturday July 31st, and Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio on August 1st ,featuring the last 4 stops before the 2nd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic at Waynesfield on Saturday August 7th. The first stop will happen on Friday July 2nd at Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City Indiana. The Gas City Non Wing Sprints are some of the most competitive in the country, and the drivers are chomping at the bit to grab the $1500 payday and guaranteed spot in the Hewitt Classic to get the chance to battle for supremacy against the best Non Wing drivers Waynesfield Raceway Park has to offer. The next stop will take place next Saturday night July 3rd at Waynesfield Raceway Park. The feature event for the Lee's Hydraulics Non Wing Sprints will pay $1500 to win. More importantly, the winner will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the 2nd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic on August 7th. The Waynesfield Regulars will look to defend their turf as there will surely be an outsider or two to try and steal the $1500 payday and the guaranteed starting spot in the biggest race of the year at WRP. Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway in Rossburg Ohio will serve as the next to last stop on the Road to the Hewitt Classic on Saturday July 31st. The legendary half-mile at Eldora will see the Non Wing Sprints racing for a top prize of $2000 and a guaranteed starting spot in the 2nd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic at Waynesfield Raceway Park on August 7th. Who will step up and tame the high banks at the “Big E”? The final stop before the 2nd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic will take place at Millstream Speedway on Sunday August 1st. The Findlay, Ohio speedplant has recently found itself reopened as track promoter Rich Farmer has taken over the reins and will attempt to bring Millstream back to life. The Non Wing Sprint Cars will take to the clay oval at Millstream and battle for a top prize of $2500 to win. The winner will also get the 4th and final guaranteed starting spot for the 2nd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic at Waynesfield Raceway Park. The Road to the 2nd Annual Jack Hewitt Classic will culminate on Saturday August 7th at Waynesfield Raceway Park when the Lane Automotive Michigan Traditional Sprints co sanction the biggest show of the year at WRP. $4000 awaits the winner of this tremendous event honoring one of the all time greats in racing. Jack will also be on hand to provide a “Ride of a Lifetime” for one lucky fan who will start the A-Main feature from the back of Jack's 2 seater sprint car. In 2009, Matt Westfall held off a charging Jon Stanbrough to win the 1st Annual Jack Hewitt Classic. Will Matt be able to defend his crown, or will Stanbrough return to finish the job and pick up the big payday? What is the point fund for the "Road to Hewitt Classic"
I saw a post on here before the mini series got started listing a point fund but dont remember what it was? I have attempted to follow this series but so far have gone 1 out of 4 do to rain..... |

The way the initial press release read, there is a $2000 point fund established by Hoosier Tire. As far as any type of breakdown of the point monies, I have not seen anything, but will be glad to share that with you and everyone else as soon as I am given those details.

No. What I'm saying is that I am an announcer and part time PR goon who doesn't have all of the answers that you desire.
Give the promoters a call before Friday, and I'm sure that they would be glad to answer your question. |

This was just a beginning series put together by a group of promoters that wanted to promote Traditional Sprint Car racing primarily in Ohio, but we welcomed Gas City and the MTS Series into the fold.
Granted we have been a little disorganized as we all have been fighting the weather just to get some races in. I think it will become a pretty cool series that will continue to keep the legacy of one of the countrys greatest open wheel drivers going. If you can attend one of the last 5 events, please feel free to offer any ideas/advice how we can make it better for the fans and competitors. I think its great...Being from Ohio I would love to see this series take off into something like the TnT deal out west!!! See you guys friday and saturday! Landon Simon
