Good post.... everyone knew what they were getting into last night
I thought all things considered, they did a good job getting the show in

I was there and like they said above the track for the feature was as fast as I have ever seen it, the speeds that they were entering the turns was similar to the wing cars. Sure would have been nice to seen more prep put into packing the track. Alot of equipment just sat in the pits that should of been on the track from the begining, and when they let the spectators pack the track that helped. However it was worth it in the end, alot of organiztions would have bailed out early on and that would have left us at home ******** about that, THAT made the right decision in the end, and THANK YOU to who ever let them run past the curfew.

You sir, are an ASS! I'm glad you didn't come to THAT. In years past, this race would have never even come close to being run. Everybody bitchin about track conditions and delays...gimme a break. LOT of rain, but they kept diggin and did a nice job with what they have. It ain't Haubstadt, but what is? Some people are quick to turn on a guy who stepped up and took on the challenge and deeply respects the tradition of THAT and shows it every time. Don't forget there is a fair board to deal with unlike most tracks and lets not start the "back to the glory days" crap and how "it won't be long before its gone now" garbage. When was the last time you promoted a race or worked a track? Bottom line is the effort was there and they did the best with what they have to work with and the racing was damn good.

Got there early, left late, "played 99 cans of beer on the wall", Mamma did a rain dance on beer #88, had a great day at the track, the Stanbrough Saga continous and special thanks to "geter' done" Robert Ballou and "geter' in" Tommy H. Remember, the Vigo County Sheriffs Dept. called this race at beer #5 otherwise it could have gone to 3AM like the ole' days....so if you have a complaint dial 911. we drove from Indy in rain all the way to THAT. could not believe someone was on the track trying to run it in. as long as it took they still ran. more than once with all the short rain showers someone could have cancelled. they put forth an effort. i wish they would have finished the feature though. i hate curfews at race tracks. the spectators looked geeked that go to help run the track in with the sprints. I Thank the promotors and drivers for staying with it.

WHEEL PACKING must be a california thing. I remember going to Ascot and ALL the cars would pack a track just as muddy as Terre Haute Saturday in less than an hour. By the time they were done you could hardly tell it was a racecar due to all the mud on it. One water truck with big tires didnt pack anything. Right when Balou came out he started getting the job done. It only took 45 minutes for the rest of the guys to come out. Then some brilliant mind had a great idea of bringing the fans on the track with thier trucks. These guys started racing and making huge ruts in the track. Not only that, they were getting in the way of the sprint cars. Then for another hour a guy in a very small tractor started moving excess mud on a part of the track that isnt even used during the race. Total wasted time: 4 hours. The solution: push off all sprint cars only until the track is ready. I will continue to say that Kokomo and Gas City run a very smooth show each week and I have to keep supporting those two tracks because they actually get it....

They didn't have enough equipment to deal with that track. One four foot bucket to do a half mile track is pretty weak.

I really like T.H.A.T., and have been going since 1978. I knew the weather was very questionable but went hoping for a window that would allow the race to happen. I feel the weather held off long enough but for lack of proper equipment the time it took to deal with the conditons was too much.

and twenty five dollars a head, WOW.

Growing up watching sprints in California, the deal was you don't wheel pack, you don't race. It was the norm for every car capable of firing to be out there running in the track. Obviously if a car was having problems they were cut some slack. I remember pit officials going through letting teams know that if they expected to race, then they better be out there.

A BIG thank you to Robert Ballou. He "strongly encouraged" the other drivers to wheel pack and then went out by himself and did it. After a while, he was joined by others. I keep getting more and more respect for Robert. From exciting driving (even if his left front is flat) to trying to do what needs to be done to get a track prepared, he is the real deal. If you see the #81 there, you know it will not be boring.

All I can say about the promotion at Terre Haute Action Track is it is one BIG JOKE. If you want to see how a track is to be ran go arcoss the state line to Ohio and see how Tony Stewart dose it right. If they would of let his group take the track over 4 years ago it would of been like it was back in the late 90's and been of the best dirt track around the world again.
I can remember going there when I was growning up and watching some of the best dirt racing there ever was.
I grown up about 15 miles north of Terre Haute and when there was a race there you had to get there hours before the gates open to get a good seat to see the best in thw world coem there and race.
When they had nascar night there it was so packed they you could not walk around there.
ALL I can say is I will drive to Rossburg, Ohio to watch the race before I will come back to Terre Haute Action Track, I only live a few miles down the road from Terre Haute but until they get Mike King out of there I will never come back. He has NO GLUE how to ran a track all he can go is run his mouth and say what people want to hear.
They will never get more then 4 races a year there if they keep him there.
If they would of only let SMOKE take over the track back in 2005 they would of had some of the best racing around.
MAN it could been great to see the big STARS of nascar to come there and ran a dirt race let do at the BIG E.
Look at all the money that city of Terre Haute could of may if Tony was running the place.
OH we'll let a jerk like Mike King keep running it int he dirt and Terre Haute will never get back to the way it was.
ALL I CAN SAY LOOK OVER THE STATE LINE IN OHIO AND CHECK OUT THE BIG E AND WANT TONY STEWART HAD DONE. HATE OR LOVE HIM HE IS THE BEST THING GOING TODAY.
