For all of you racers and fans who also happen to be American History buffs, you might want to kill some time during the day on the Saturday of Tri City Speedway's Gold Crown Weekend by making the 10 minute drive north to the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site. We're having our 2nd annual Flags Over the Mississippi: Struggle for Empire event that weekend. It won't cost you anything, as parking and admission is free.
http://www.campdubois.com/events.html http://www.campdubois.com/center.html To get to the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site from Tri City Speedway, turn right (north) out of the parking lot. Head north on ILL-203 until you get to the I-270 exit. Go WEST (back towards STL) on I-270, then exit Northbound on ILL-Rt. 3. This exit comes immediately before you cross the Chain of Rocks Canal bridge. Follow Ill-Rt. 3 Northbound until you come to the stoplight at New Poag Road. Turn left at the light. Follow the signs.

Here's a thread from www.midgetmadness.com with some more ideas on how to kill time during the daytime that weekend.
