The UAW American Made Mel Kenyon Midget Series will return to action this Saturday at the Lincoln Tech Indianapolis Speedrome. Point leader Dameron Taylor will lead the series as it returns to the track following a mid-summer week off.

Taylor will start the 50-lap feature undefeated in 2016 on the Speedrome’s flat 1/5 mile oval. His four wins in 2016 put him on top of the point standings with a 164 point lead over runner-up Ryan Huggler.

In 2015, Taylor was leading the point battle going into August when a string a mechanical issues allowed a charging Kyle O’Gara to grab the point lead. O’Gara would go on to set a USSA record for career wins and wins in a single season.

In addition to chasing Taylor, Huggler needs to keep a look out over his shoulder as the point race for the second spot is red hot. Huggler’s brother Logan holds down the sixth position trailing his brother Ryan by just 79 points.

Three time winner Chase Jones sits in third, with Trey Osborn and Ashlea Albertson filling out the top five. Jones margin over Albertson is a slim 31 points.

The Speedrome traditionally sees close hard racing for the UAW American Made Mel Kenyon Midget Series. The spectator gates open at 4:30 with qualifying at 6:05 and racing at 7:00. The USSA UAW midgets will be joined by Speedrome fan favorites Pro Compact Cars, Thundercars and Super Stocks racing on the figure 8 track. The Junior Fast Carts will join the Kenyon Midgets on the oval. Adult tickets are $12, kids 6 to 11 are $6 and kids five and under are free.
