Long time reader-first time poster who has a New Year's resolution to be more active on IOW so here goes......
Glad to see the warmer weather slowly coming in and that means the racing season is just around the corner here in Michigan. For all you Sprint Car fans, you are invited to a free race party/fundraiser this coming Saturday, March 26. It is from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Quincy, MI American Legion right on the main drag-US 12 in town. Come out and support Sprint Car driver's Ryan Ruhl of Coldwater and Nic Rogers of Quincy.

My nephew and I had the idea to support a couple of our local racers as we grew up with Butler Speedway in the area and have also traveled far and wide to enjoy Sprint Car racing. Several friends and family members are on board to help and we are ready to go.

There have been many a time I have ran into Stevensville Mike at the Michigan area tracks (and Florida too I believe) and I think Outlaw Dan is from Michigan too. Mike, Dan, or any race fan out there who is ready for a short road trip on March 26, stop on up/down/over to Quincy, Michigan for some bench racing and good times.

This unique, inaugural event will have both cars on display and the drivers present. The event will have food & drink available to purchase as we support the American Legion. There will be various fund raising activities and racing related items/photos on display. All monies raised will be donated to the 2 race teams. There is no charge to attend but donations will be accepted. Bring the entire family and have some fun as we send Ryan & Nic out on the road for the 2016 racing season.

P.S. Hope to make the trip for USAC weekend in Indiana next month to Bloomington & Tri-State for a couple new tracks to add to the list. I have heard excellent racing at both facilities.

Welcome to the IOW family! I am always glad to see new members and always glad to see fans doing something to support racers. The drive from Springfield IL is a little long, otherwise I would be there. Look forward to meeting you.

Thanks for the welcome dirtnonwingfan and racegal. The weather is looking good for the Race Party and things are coming together well. There is still room for any and all to stop by and enjoy. Looks like Ryan Ruhl with have his new paint job/design ready on one of the cars with the debut starting at 2:00 pm at the Quincy American Legion.

Special shout out to Stevensville Mike...heard you are on your way to Quincy Saturday and look forward to seeing you and chatting some racing as always. We will have some nice items in the raffles that have been donated and I'm sure you will have an interest in the silent action items with Butler Battleground passes up for grabs. You might even get lucky with some 50/50 raffles. Looks like John Naida and SOD will be at the party to support Nic and Ryan and have tires available for teams who are coming over for the fundraiser.

Everyone on IOW have a great Easter weekend and get ready for SPRINT CAR RACING as the calendar turns to April soon with the methanol smell in the air!!

I do not know how many $$$ were raised yesterday, but I enjoyed the whole deal. It was good for the soul - a bunch of folks bound together by racing in many ways, shapes, and forms. I had some great chats with the Naidas, the Irwins, and the Ruhl family.

Great job, beaner!

Another tip of the hat to all of the people who donated items for the silent auctions. Butler Speedway and Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt specifically.

I can't wait to see my first drop of a green flag for 2016!

Oh, yeah..... Happy Easter to all, too!

Thanks for the kind words Steve-Mike! Great seeing you support the event and glad you had a good time bench-racing with the gang. We exceeded expectations for the first year event and the race teams were very pleased with the outcome.

Still looking to hit the Indiana USAC weekend April 15-16 and then plan on the big Sprint Car show with SOD at Butler Speedway on May 21. That should be a good one on the 3/8 mile Battleground hi-banks with MTS and GLSS both off that night and all the Butler regulars available to run with the new SOD rules.
