Converting Non-Downtube Chassis

I recently bought a low-bar mini sprint to make my debut in racing. I don't expect to be super competitive anyways, but I'm wondering if it would be worth it/possible to weld on downtubes. I have heard in the old days they used to bolt them on too. I already have the car stripped down to the frame to get sandblasted and powdercoated so I figured it would be a good time to do it. Thanks

Not a real big issue to add them, just need to consult with/show what you have to a accomplished fabricator and see what they say. Some non down tube cars are pretty good the way they are

Personally....I would leave it as is or get a cheap down tube chassis.
A lot of work for little gain I sure wouldn't bolt it on. |

Unless you are sure there is something wrong with the design, I'd leave it as is, you might just screw up a good handling car! Bob

Thanks for the advice! I'll leave it alone.
