Smackdown Questions

I've never been to Kokomo, and since that's (currently) an off weekend for us, I thought about going to Smackdown. I have a few questions though.
Is there camping at (within walking distance) the track? My thinking is to drive the toter down there and just stay at the track for the week. If there is camping, is there electric, or is it all generator power? Showers and/or bathrooms? What should I do for tickets? Is there pit seating (first come, first served) that is good, or should I get reserved tickets and sit in the grandstands? Are the stands better front stretch or back stretch? Are there any stores or anything within walking distance if we need ice or anything else while we're there? Is there anything else I should be asking and didn't think of or anything the experienced Kokomo goers think I should know? Thanks. |

There is camping at the track but no hook-ups. The camping area fills up fast. No showers that I know of at the track but bathrooms are close by. If you buy pit pass everyday it's 35,35,45 bucks. Call the number at the track and you may still be able to get the reserved seat pit pass special of $80 bucks for all 3 days. The pit seating I believe is first come first serve. As for the grandstands its reserved for the first 10 rows or so starting at the top downward then its GA towards the bottom I believe. No stores in walking distance but they aren't far by car. I sit on the front stretch every year. But I'm sure its good either way. Go there and have fun its a great event and the racing is awesome.

Eric you can get ice within walking distance from the camping lot. Just past the stoplight at the intersection south of the track is "Ray's Drive Inn". They have the soft ice you can get bagged for around a buck and a quarter. They also have pretty good food too, be aware though the King Tenderloin there is a Monster! Also there is a Marsh grocery store a little farther on south from Ray's if you need to stock up on supplies also.

Great info. Thanks to everyone for the replies. As long as we don't end up with a race scheduled that weekend, I think I'll make the trip down.
