USAC midgets (10k to win) and MOWA sprint cars at Granite City, then just a couple hours down the road on Sunday night for the USAC champ dirt cars under the lights at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds

I plan on going again with my father and my uncle. Thanks to Tri City Speedway for not giving up on this event. Weather has not been their friend over the years with last year completely rained out. Hopefully, the move to Sept will help. Midgets really put on great races on this track!

Not trying to quibble in the least miledirt, but Du Quoin is actually only a bit less than an hour an a half from Tri-City Speedway. We've made that trip back and forth from the fairgrounds at Du Quoin to Tri-City a few times in the past. Several years ago Tri-City ran a USAC sprint car show during Labor Day Weekend and since we were camped on the fairgrounds at Du Quoin we drove over to Granite City to watch the sprint cars.
This year for Labor Day Weekend instead of camping at the fairgrounds we'll be camped at Rend Lake, which is about another 20 minutes farther than Du Quoin but we'll again be making the drive over to Tri-City both Friday and Saturday night. This has the makings of a great weekend of racing with a diverse lineup, too. A highly anticipated 2 night midget show, the Silver Crown cars on the beautiful Du Quoin Mile and for those who stick around 'till Labor Day you'll have the ARCA cars on Monday afternoon in action on the Du Quoin Mile!!
I've got it from a reliable source that some folks from Kansas and Texas will be on hand at both Granite City and Du Quoin and they are also rumored to be coming to Rend Lake for some boat time and lake crusin'!!
Any truth to those rumors, Bob!! We're sure looking forward to it!!
Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.
