A Saturday forecast for very cold temperatures and a near 100% chance of rain in Anderson, IN has made it necessary to postpone the 15th Annual Glen Niebel Classic for the USSA Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW to Sunday afternoon.
The move to a Sunday afternoon show will also bring about a change to the event format for the USSA sprinters. There will be a big premium to the teams that qualify well. The Glen Niebel Classic feature line-up will be based on qualifying with the fast qualifier drawing a 4, 6 or 8 pill to determine the inversion for the 100-lap Niebel Classic. This will also give the teams a look into the future for qualifying for the 67th Pay Less Little 500 presented by UAW-GM. Qualifying is schedule to start at 1:30 and fans will want to be on hand to follow this exciting part of the day.
The Sprint Car Challenge Series Kicks-off the 2015 racing Season at Anderson Speedway with the Glen Niebel Classic. Practice is scheduled to begin at 11:30 am on Sunday April 26 with each division getting one hour of track time. Qualifying will go off at 1:30 with racing scheduled to start at 3:00 with the ARCA/CRA Super Series cars 125-lap race followed by the Glen Niebel Classic 100 Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW race
East central Illinois is drenched.
My latest intellicast shows rain all the way thru 4am Sunday, here. If you had the same or worse in Terre Haute, the 1/2 mile track prep will be a monumental task. As much as I love the Actiontrack Im looking to pass.
My Plan B was always Anderson for the Niebel classic. Further away = Ga$$$ + Time but an early start for Monday workers and/or travelers. Wish there were more early Sunday starts in spring and fall.
Anderson Speedway management understands it.
Everyone gets home at a decent time and accommodates Families too.
Peace & love to all.
God bless our Troops at home and abroad.
