At the March 1, 2015 STARS membership meeting, the most significant discussion concerned the proposed 2016 engine rules.
STARS ultimate goal continues to be to accommodate our current cars, and attract as many new car owners/drivers as we can to put on quality racing for our fans.
After the meeting and listening to all the comments, we continue to investigate options. We believe for 2016 and forward that the Chevy Ecotek motor (either 2.2 or 2.4cc) should be the motor of choice for economic reasons. Our current National car owners with the current National motors, ( Mopars, Esslingers, Fontanas, etc),will be able to integrate by using appropriate restrictors on the throttle body for each cylinder to achieve a reduction in horsepower to about 300. We are working with Engler Engineering to determine the appropriate size.
A more detailed letter will be published on the STARS website in the very near future.
If anyone has questions, please feel free to contact Everett Holt. As I said in the beginning, our primary goal is to make racing at Grundy County affordable, exciting and competitive.
