All, I need some help with getting the right weight torision bars for the rear of my car, Its coil front , torsion rear. I am new to this and this is the first car I built and first one I ve raced.
The car is bouncing all over the place , I know the torsion bars I have in it currently are old ,very old and need replaced but what weight should I be running ,the ones I have in it were for a wing set up and im running non wing
600 open class non wing , 26" torsion bars. Any suggestions to help ?

Any idea what size the bars are. both diameters, the actual diameter, and the true diameter. Sounds like more of a shock issue, torsion bars without the proper shock will bounce, start with more info. Bob

Bob , thank you
torsion bars are 7/8" Dia x 26"length
One is 800 and the other I belive is 725 or 750 .
Im running all new QA1 shocks in the sizes Sawyer recomended on all 4 corners .
It hasnt seemed to matter weather its dry slick or tacky or low,mid or high on the track it has too much bounce .

Not knowing what the shock numbers are, and assuming they are working correctly, I believe I'd see if I couldn't find another, even a used one, just to try, the same size as the small one you have, .725/.750, and pair them up, and see what it does, and while I was at it, I'd unhook the shocks at the top, and work them thru a cycle or 2 by hand, and see if you can tell if they are skipping, or just in general, if they feel like they might be doing what they are supposed to. Off hand, I'd say that .800 bar was someones wing bar, or a really large driver! Bob

how heavy are you and what's the valving on your shocks? I'd say most likely 725 750 or 700 725 depending on how long your torsion arms are and how much you weigh. Measure your rear arms from the center of the bar to the center of the heim joint where it connects to the bird cage. Then we can look at a spring rate chart to determine a spring rate.

Im 5'8" at 190lbs . Shocks are listed below
QA1
8264-2 LF
8262 RF
8275-3 LR
8273 RR
Coil Springs on front shocks are 150 and 125
I will check and see what the torsion arm length is when I get home as asked above.
And as someone mentioned the 800 torsion bar was being used on the car previously when it was wing .
Id like to get an answer quickly so I can get new torsion bars ordered and installed prior to this coming saturday ,Thnaks all in advance for your help and suggestions

I would vote for 700 725 if it were me unless your torsion arms are really long then maybe 725 750 Hope this helps. Not sure where you're located but there is a place in fortville by greenfield that probably has the bars you need in stock. I just bought a few from him. Randy Literal, Literal racing products

I have an 04 Sawyer I weigh 160 and run at us24 speedway which I believe is a 1/6 or 1/8 mile I run a 675/700 in both wing and non wing up until a few weeks ago I was running 700/725 and had issues with bouncing so I put the softer bars in

There ya go, I'd borrow some used ones, before buying new, it'll give you an idea of what way to go. Bob
