2014 brings on a year of change for the Guess Racing Team. With veteran driver Jim Anderson deciding to scale back his racing efforts to a part time schedule so he can spend more time with his family, Guess Racing had to come up with a plan for the 2014 racing season.

With team manager Bill Guess’ ties to some of the top open wheel teams, a deal was reached with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing Development Driver Kyle O’Gara to drive the Guess Racing #99 for nine of the STARS series races in 2014. Kyle brings with him a lot of talent as he has seen victory lane twice in the STARS Midget Series with the RW Motorsports team.

The Opening night of the 2014 season was May 31st at Grundy County Speedway and Kyle O’Gara stepped into the #99 and was fast right off the trailer. Ultimately being the fastest car after the practice sessions concluded. After a few adjustments were made, Kyle qualifying 2nd quick. Kyle started 7th in the heat race, passed a few cars, and finished 3rd. Come feature time, Kyle started in the 4th position and in the early laps got shuffled back to 6th. After an accident on lap 9, Kyle started his move to the front of the field. With 4 laps remaining he was able to take over the 2nd position and was catching the leader but, unfortunately, he ran out of laps to contend for the victory.

On June 7th for the STARS Midget Series it was deja vu for Kyle O'Gara as he was once again quickest in practice and then was the 2nd quickest qualifier. As Kyle was getting ready to take the green flag in the second heat race of the evening, mother nature had other plans and the rest of the nights events were cancelled.

The STARS Midget Series resumes action at the Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL on June 14th for the annual Don Carter Sr./Jim Anderson Sr. Classic and the fans will be treated to two 36 lap feature races as the first feature will be a make up for the rained out feature on June 7th. The second feature will have its own separate qualifications to determine the order of the lineups for the nights events. The whole Guess Racing Team looks to improve upon their opening nights second place finish. The first race is scheduled to roll off at 6:30 PM so come on out and enjoy some of the finest short track pavement midget racing in the country!
