Bares and Irwin Pick up wins on memorial weekend with the Lane automotive MTS sprint series


Saturday night at Merritt speedway Mts had 24 cars on hand . heat race action would see Brett Mann, Kyle Simon and Mike Burkin pick up wins.
Feature action would see Kevin Hawk lead early and stretch out a lead but several cautions would bunch up the field and see Mike Burkin make attempts to challenge Hawk for the lead. With 2 laps to go Hawk would have a motor stumble from low fuel in turn 2 stacking up the lead pack and allow Steve Irwin running 3 rd make a pass for the lead and take the checkered in the 25 lap event. Burkin would make contact with Hawk but make it through to hold on for second. Mike Galajda moved up to third form his 10 th starting spot. Chris Pobanz took the Hard charger award finishing 4 th and Kyle Simon finished 5 th. Kevin Hawk would nurse a flat tire and salvage a 6 th place finish.

Sunday at Crystal Motor sppedway 28 cars would race 4 heat races seeing Joey Irwin, Cooper Clouse, Kevin Hawk and Brett Mann win . In bmain action Jay Stienabach would pick up the win over Josh Turner.
At the start of the feature Mike Burkin took the high line through turns 1 and 2 to take the lead. Joe Bares made a few moves and place himself in second and try to track down Burkin in the lead. About half way through Mike burkin would make contact in lap traffic with Josh Turner causing turner to spin and sloe the field down for caution. On the restart Burkins car would get out of shape from damage of contact with Turner allowing Bares too take the lead and forcing Burkin to pull to the pits. Steve Irwin wouls try to challenge bares but Bares proved to strong and picked up the A main victory.
