After briefly speaking with Bill May a few days ago Mid-America Lightning Sprints and Midwest Mini Sprint Association have agree to work together for a combined show next season. Obviously this is very early in the planning stages and more details will be announced as soon as they become available. It makes the most sense to hold an event like this so we get maximum attendance which means timing is very important. The most logical time table would be late fall or early spring next season. I personally like late fall as you have a better shot at good weather and most guys chasing any kind of club points should be done about now. I hesitate to call this a national event yet but with the right sponsorship this could be a very good race.

Feel Free to contact myself or Bill if you have any questions or comments.

Thanks, Mark Billings

The best tracks I could think of would be "LITTLE BELLVILLE" or Peoria.

I know I'm going out on a limb here, but Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt IN would be a great facility. It would be somewhat centrally located, Tommy does the best track prep I have ever seen. Question is....can we get him on board??? Input???

He says he better in the air than in a race car. Wonder if you can back one of them big suckers in one of them approach turns?

Come to think of it I flew to Korea with "Flying Tiger Airlines" and they did it in an old 707 full of GI's.

Ideally we would like to have it in IL.

This coming year we have a very good opportunity not only to share a race together with MMSA but sit down face to face and discuss rules. I have recieved a verbal commitment from MMSA, AMSA,WIMS, MLS and of course ourselves MALS to sit down and try to come up with a rules package that allows common sense verifiable rules and tech procedures. ILSS has been invited but as of yet no return call has been received.
