I’ve lived in a small town my whole life. So I’m asking for some help from some of the more sophisticated IOW members out there.

What does it mean when a girl that you “met” several months ago sends you a Father’s Day card?

Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers and fathers to be out there! But especially mine. Even though I’ve got a college degree, he taught me more than any single person. He taught me to weld, he taught me to fabricate but most of all, he taught me to drive. And that has been my passion ever since. So thank you Dad!

By the way, I was only kidding about the card. I pretty well spent the whole winter in the garage.

That's as scary as something that happened to me a few years back, we were at the track, and out of the corner of my eye, I see this real nice "chassis" walking thru the pits, next thing I know, she's standing by me, and I don't know her from a sled of pineapples, and she gets up close and asks "do you remember me"? Duh! Turns out she is the daughter of an old friend, all grown up, and well done too. Kinda made my day, after my heart started beating again. Bob

Today is #4 without my Dad. I say it get's easier with time, BUT it Never gets easy!
It's also my Mom's birthday today so it's a double whammy for her.

Luckily I still have my Best & OLDEST Friend! At 92 he is still teaching me how to be a better person. Thanks Dad, for 59 years of friendship & mentoring.

I lost my Dad Dec. of '05. We worked together for 20 years before he retired. Those of you who have made your living side by side with your Dad know it can sometimes be a challenge but I'm better at what I do because of it. I'll share something I read years ago that fits me to a tee, I suspect it fits many of ya'll, too. "Some Dads buy you your first car, some Dads pay your way through college, some Dads even give you the family business. My Dad didn't do any those things. Instead, my Dad took me to the races"! I'm damned grateful he did, too.

This July will be 20 years since I lost my dad, I was 13. Not a day goes by I don't think about him, wish he was still here and think bout how things would be different if he was still around. But I know he's watching over me. I am too glad that I was raised around racing and hope I can pass on down to my daughter and keep the tradition going. Happy fathers day.
