I am leaving tomorrow morning to head to Hannibal, MO. I plan on taking I-70 across Illinois. Has anybody been across there heading to Indiana in the last week? I want to know how much construction/delays I am looking at. The Illinois DOT website is just about worthless. I can take US 50 West as an alternative, but it would be nice to know where to cut North to avoid delays.

I drove to Winchester from Effingham on Sunday. There are three construction zones in Illinois on I-70 between Effingham and Terre Haute. The longest stretch of one lane construction zone is between the Greenup and Casey exits. It goes on for about ten miles, both directions. It was smooth getting through there on Sunday. Not sure what it'll be like with the extra holiday traffic during the week. It could get ugly.

The worst spot I saw was on I-70 in Indiana. There is construction zone both directions between the last Terre Haute exit (Route 46) and the Brazil exit. Traffic was at a standstill for a good three miles on I-70 east bound between those two exits.
