I talked to Kyle (Wissmiller), he said they had 11 cars, Mitch (Wissmiller) , Moughan and Tripplet got together in the Heat race, bending Mitch's nerf bar into the Right rear causing him to have to start on the tail of the feature, he came from the back to win. Not sure of anything else.

The weather forecast probably hurt them again tonight because when I checked mid afternoon there was a nice front right to the west of them and did not want to drive that far again to get rained out.

I know the Trucker's cars had planned to go until the weather forecast kept them from making the tow...

Very dissappointed in the car count. Last week they would of had around 25 if they were able to race. There was only about 200 people in the stands. I would say the weather kept fans and drivers away. The features were all won by front row starters except for the sprints. Track was basically one grove on the top not alot of passing. Promoter took a beating on this show.:checkered:

Too bad about the car count but this will likely be the norm with gas costs. I know I have seconds thoughts if the weather looks likely for rain. I know the teams have it worse due to their mileage. It is going to be tough on promotors because they have to weigh running a show in questionable weather and less fans. I am sure there will be more like this.

You really have to feel for the Wests. They FINALLY get a show in, and then they take a bath financially. But I'll admit that I also decided at the last minute to not go because of the rain threat and gas prices.

:thumbWe ran last night and have a couple of things to say. First and foremost I want to take a minute to thank Billy West and his crew for putting non wing sprints back here in central Illinois. We all feel bad about the turn out last night, it seems the weather will not give him a break.
That being said I know a lot of promoters would have cut the purse for the sprints with only 11 cars. Billy West paid the Full amount!!!!!!! I say thank you and I believe that was a pretty stand up thing to do. That should show a lot of the sprint car guys how serious he is about getting Sprints established as a part of his weekly show. As far as the racing goes, I told Mike Hess after the feature it was a shame that not many people were there to see it because that was a lot of fun. Nice tricky cushion. Plenty of moisture to lean on and no yellows. Congrats Mitch!!! |
