GC has about a third (or quarter) of the seating compared to the Burg. all on the front stretch. The higher, the better. Advise you to get there early and claim your seat. The food is nothing to brag about, but nothing is over $4. If the tractors come out to work the track, you have time to hit your cooler in the parking lot. See ya there!

If you can not get there very early, no chance at a top row seat. If you get there closer to race time, pay the little extra and set in the pits. The way the place is set up, I love the seats at the end of the front stretch. Plus you get to walk around the cars during the downtime.

Worst bleachers I've sat on. Sit as high as you can and stand and stretch every chance you get.

Kokomo — Weather permitting, the local racing action will kick off this weekend as the Gas City I-69 Speedway will play host to the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series on Friday night.

Last week’s scheduled opener for the bullring in Grant County fell victim to the heavy rains that besieged large portions of central Indiana.

The same weather system also postponed the Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic at the Eldora Speedway, leaving the series’ stars and cars ready to roll this weekend. Following Friday’s event, the series travels to the southwestern part of Indiana to invade the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville.

A year ago at Gas City, Sikeston, Mo., standout Hunter Schuerenberg scored the feature win and heading into this weekend, he trails Chase Stockon by just eight points (247-239) for the top spot in the championship battle. A couple other drivers to keep an eye on at Gas City are Lincoln’s Dave Darland, who always seems to flex his muscle at the track whenever USAC competes there, as well as defending series champion Bryan Clauson.

Clauson sits third in the points battle in his first year of piloting Tony Stewart’s Team Chevy Performance No. 20 that was wheeled by Levi Jones in the past and he, like Darland, has found success at Gas City in the past.

Should Darland return to Victory Lane at the track, it would be a milestone event for the Phillips Motorsports No. 71P team. Despite winning multiple events in non-sanctioned events, Steve and Carla Phillips’ team has yet to win a USAC national series event. Prior to the season Darland noted that among his multiple goals, wheeling the Phillips’ machine to a national win was foremost in his mind.

Darland sits sixth overall, just 47 points in back of Stockon as he chases his second USAC National Sprint Car Series title and first since 1999 when he was wheeling the Hoffman Dynamics No. 69. In addition to those mentioned above, look for virtually a who’s who of non wing sprint car racing to be on hand, including Shane Cottle aboard the Epperson Racing No. 2E, Tracy Hines, Brady Bacon, Kevin Thomas Jr., Robert Ballou, Thomas Meseraul, Josh Spencer, Justin Grant, Jerry Coons Jr. in the Edison Motorsports No. 10E and possibly Jones in Jeff Walker Racing’s second entry, the No. 39 Don Walker Special.

Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday night with the first race slated to push off around 7:30. To keep abreast of possible postponements, visit the track website at www.gascityi69speedway.com.

When i am there to watch i enjoy setting down in turn 1..the food prices are right in line with every other track not to expensive..The shows usually arent stretched out to long it really just depends on the track conditions/car count..they are only running 3 classes this weekend so it shouldnt be to bad..

Couple of notes, At 5pm you can buy a 50/50 ticket and tour the pits till about drivers meeting time for 1 dollar. Even so, Pit passes are only 5 dollars more than gen admission. They sometimes open the pits for the respective classes as that class finishes it's feature.

Grandstand, No stadium seats, no coolers and most uncomfortable there are. Like pointed out get there early to get good seats. There are also more comfortable
grandstands outside turns 3-4 in the pits.

Concessions, Average however they have a ton of selections and I particularly like the Deep Fried Mushrooms which is a rare treat anywhere.

Track is a smaller brownstown semi banked and the racing can be good but if they till and water the track before the feature and not the semi's it will be one groove for over half the race. I personally wish they would never work the track before feature or let one of the other features run first to cut it in if they do so so it isn't one groove fast as it can be with no passing.

Debating making the trip which means I'll probably be there.

Actually it's a article written by Brett Bowman...

I favor the grilled chicken sandwich and cheese sticks when I'm at Gas City's I 69 Speedway...
