Is there a reason there isn't any of these? Why local tracks don't?

Just curious.

Thanks

So because a sleepy face is between beating a dead horse and one getting hooked, there aren't any non sactioned dirt champ races? I'm sure this has been discussed before so sorry for bringing up old conversation.

Bill,

I am not aware of anyone ever trying to schedule a silver crown dirt race without a USAC sanction. There probably has been but I certainly haven't heard about it. The silver crown cars are more suited for 1/2 miles and larger facilities so that alone would eliminate many local tracks running weekly programs.

Most promoters, especially at the local track level, have a comfort level of running the same basic program. If they are successful, I would think they wouldn't want to risk a program that has no history at the local level.

Since it hasn't been tried to my knowledge, it could present problems trying to get the word out to car owners and getting a decent car count. Without a good car count, fans don't show either. The silver crown series car owners are spread out into a much wider area than what a local track normally deal with.

From what I understand, the purse for a silver crown race is considerable higher than a regular local track sprint car race would be. These are just a few of the things that I think could make this idea a difficult challenge.

With all of this being said, remember that these are just my opinions. I am surprised that others on this board haven't presented their ideas as well. Take it for what it is worth.

Not sure if this counts, but I believe Terre Haute ran a non-sanctioned, non-points match race with Silver Crown cars during the 1996 U.S. Dirt Nationals. The race was only 10 laps.

RESULTS: 1. Jack Hewitt (#63 6R Racing), 2. Tony Elliott (#62 Beaver Racing), 3. Dave Darland (#6 Ralph Potter), 4. Dan Drinan (#43 Ricky Nix). 4:08:21

DID NOT START: Kevin Thomas (#12 Galas)

LAP LEADERS: Laps 1-6 Elliott, laps 7-10 Hewitt.

Did I read in an old issue of Open Wheel that years ago they ran something similar to the Silver Crown cars in Texas / Oklahoma area?

It was a long time ago that I read it, so my mind may be playing tricks!

NCRA. They actually ran dirt champ cars with wings, if I recall correctly.
