COMING SUNDAY, APRIL 21ST: "THE MIDWEST OPEN WHEEL CHALLENGE" WILL OPEN THE 2013 RACING SCHEDULE AT VCS!

"Stars and their cars" will be out in FULL FORCE the afternoon, and evening of Sunday, April 21st at Vermilion County Speedway located just West of Danville, IL as "The Midwest Open Wheel Challenge" marks the start of an exciting 2013 schedule of events at VCS! FOUR exciting classes of racing will be on tap as the action will get underway with Hot Laps starting at 4:30PM Central time, with heat races to follow.

The evening will feature two thrilling classes of sprint cars both winged, and non-winged. The winged class will be represented by the Midwest Open Wheel Association(midwestopenwheel.com)Outlaw winged 410 sprint car touring series, and the non-winged class will feature an open class of non-winged 410 sprint cars, with no tire rule, that is guaranteed to provide some unbelievable racing action. Also on the card for the evening will be the always ultra-competitive class of U.M.P Open Wheel Modifieds, and the fender rubbing, door banging U.M.P. Street Stocks.

This Inaugural event gets its name from a special challenge that has been issued by Bell Racing Helmets, based in Champaign, IL. Here’s the challenge: If any one driver can win any two features, he, or she will receive a $500 bonus. If any one driver can win all three features (sweep) he, or she will receive a $1,500 bonus. It will be interesting to see if anyone takes the challenge.

We also are excited to announce that the Midwest Old Timers Vintage Race Car Club will be on hand displaying their vintage race cars starting at 3PM, and will also be turning some laps on the speedway with their beautiful cars as well. Seeing these vintage race cars is something you don't want to miss! More information about this club can be found at http://movrcc.webs.com/.

Also, back by popular demand, there will be a “Driver Meet N Greet” at the 4-H Food Pavilion from 3-4PM. This will give fans a chance to see some of the cars from each class up close, and an opportunity to even get an autograph. Bring a Sharpie pen!

VCS is also excited to announce that “Lil J’s Kitchen”, the speedway’s new concession stand, will be a FULL line of concessions available at the Grandstand, and there will be concessions pit side as well. A variety of treats including pizza, ice cream, rib-eye sandwiches, nachos, burgers, and hot dogs will be available. Bagged ice will also be available. There will also be a variety of adult beverages for sale near the Grandstand. No coolers are allowed in the Grandstand area.

Pit gate opens at 2PM Central time, and the Main gate, and Grandstand open at 3PM. Hot Laps start at 4:30PM Central time sharp!

General Admission for this BIG event is $15 for adults, and children 12 and under are FREE when accompanied by an adult. Pit Passes are $30.
