I am offering a vintage 1969 sprint car that was originally raced in Central PA from 1970-1972 as the Boldosser Special #00. The chassis car was manufactured by Tobias and sold to Jim Boldosser, Sr during the winter of 69’ and prepared at the Boldosser Body Shop, Harrisburg, PA. It was an early Tobias chassis with a bolt on cage and was fitted out with new, competitive components. The exterior finishes were Gulf Oil Orange, white stripes, and brown lettering, upholstery was white and orange, and the frame was black with a white bolt on cage.

The car was campaigned competitively in Central PA for 3 years by the Boldosser’s with at least 3 documented wins and numerous top 5 finishes. It performed very consistently and finished well in the point standings each year. The drivers were Gene Kohr, Gene Varner, and Rick Schmelyun. The car and drivers’ performances are well documented in the Williams Grove National Open Yearbook and weekly programs. This car went wheel to wheel with many legendary, hall of fame drivers.

3 pictures are attached showing the original configuration. The first is just after the car was built in the spring of 70’ when Gene Kohr was getting test time at the track (Williams Grove). The second was taken during 1970 with Gene Kohr and the Boldosser’s after Gene’s first victory in the car at Selinsgrove Speedway during the 70’ season. The third picture is Rick Schmelyun after a victory at Williams Grove Speedway on September 11, 1971. There are dozens of excellent pictures in the pits and action photos on the track in my collection.

I have owned this car for 6 years and have been accumulating period correct and specific parts for the restoration. A Boldosser family member provided me with the original pictures of the car under construction at their body shop, so these coupled with the track photos provide very thorough details of the car. I also have the complete and uninterrupted ownership history of the car.

The car, parts and restoration engine (350, period 2.02 angle plug heads, Hilborn) for the restoration are $7,500 firm. I will consider possibly separating some parts and adjusting the price accordingly.
