I have an '09 ZX10 and my reason for going with a drysump was the oil control/loss problem with this engine. It doesn't lose a drop with the drysump, so yes, it helped.

Where did you get your kit and how much? do you have a external pump? Wonder how hard it will be to find a used kit for a 98 gsxr

Jessie at Brittsan Racing Development designed and built the kit. Pressure is provided by the stock internal pump. A 2-stage external suction pump mounts in place of the water pump. A plate with 2 pickups and an oil feed port for the stock pump replaces the stock pan.

Add to that a tank, lines, and a Davies-Craig electric water pump and it's about $3K

I've dry sumped several different cycle engines, and for the most part, it isn't that big a deal, you don't even need a machine shop in your shop, as I do, but it helps, it depends on how much you want to spend, for an oil pump, but there are several ways to skin this cat, without dumping a load in it, and if it were me, before I even considered a mini-sprint, I'd look for someone who could dry sump it first, and make sure that happened first. Just a thought! Bob

With a Suzuki you won't have a belching problem all you need is a good flat pan and a pick up relocated to the right rear of the pan.

Thanks for the advice and replies gives me food for thought. Bob I already have two minisprints for next season. one with a yamaha and one with the suzuki. I had hope to get them out this year but had many things to work out on them and just took longer than i wanted. Now going to have a major surgery so will be down for a couple months so just making sure im ready for next season. The dry sump is something i was just wondering about thanks Phil

With proper venting, you won't have a negative, or positive vacuum or pressure in the sump, you got 4 cylinders going up and down, 2 at a time, but it's hard to pound in some folks heads, how to vent the system, if done properly, you will have a very slight vacuum, but not enough to cause any oiling issues, then that allows you to mount a tank outside, that'll hold enough oil to keep everything happy, if someone isn't willing to listen, at my age, I just walk away. Bob. Good luck!

I learn something every day Bob and at my age I need all the help I can get. Something about needing DLC pins.
