Hardy Boys,
Not sure if this post will help, or be of a hindrance. Anyway, I took a photo of the #3 Stecks car back in 1966. I took the photo at the Oswego Speedway Classic for supermodifieds. The car #3 qualified 3rd fastest and finished 17th. But, strange as this may seem, the driver name that qualified the car #3 is listed as A.J. Wilmack and the driver listed as finishing 3rd in the car was Paul Womak. Still kind of a mystery in my mind. This was the only #3 car that I remember and no other number or letter was added to the number #3 as they do when more than one same numbered car is at the track.
Then in 1966 the Stecks car was at Oswego Speedway again for the Classic with Harold Smith out of Ohio behind the wheel. The Stecks car was #30 at Oswego in 1966. Coincidentally, the Stecks car qualified 3rd fastest and finished 17th again - two years in a row. I find that interesting - but hey! I am of simple mind. There is a photo of the Stecks car in the 50 Years: Oswego Speedway International Classic which I do have.
Oswego Speedway is asphalt, and as far as the Stecks car on dirt or the drivers all I know is what I read.
Also, Art Bennett out of Michigan may have driven the Stecks car.
I do stand to be corrected on the info I have posted above.
Have a good day,
Rich
