I just received the news of the passing of driver, lecturer, and corporate spokesperson, Jerry Grant. Jerry was a very kind man who raced for Dan Gurney and was a corporate representative for the Champion Spark Plug Co. and others following his racing career. I met Jerry in the Champion Spark Plug media room under the old Tower Terrace. He allowed me to help to support the room during the month of May for years and years. More importantly Jerry afforded me the opportunity to listen and interact with many of my heros from the Speedway and the personalities from the press. My thoughts are with Sandi, his family, and his many friends in and out of racing. RIP

Meet him at the Indy memorabilia show a few years ago. Nice man and a hell of a racer.

RIP, Jerry! He came so close to winning the 1972 Indy 500 driving the "Mystery Eagle", but was not scored the last twelve laps of the race because he took fuel from teammate Bobby Unser's tank.
