Anyone from Indy or nearby (besides drivers/crew) plan on making the trip to Hartford, MI for the USAC race on August 11th? Looks like about a 3 1/2 hour drive. Anyone been there before?

Anyone headed out to Kokomo tonight? I'm anxious to see JS back in the Foxco car for tonight. What a winning combination those guys were!!!

I know its a trip for most on this board, but USAC will be at i96 speedway the night before as well. For some reason there is more hype about the big block modifieds running the Tuesday before than the USAC race. I just hope they fix the half mile before we race there on the 10th.

The half will be just fine, they won't touch it until Saturday night after the regular program concludes but Walt will have it whipped into shape. As for the "hype" big block mods are more @ home on the 1/2 imo. I was very disappointed to hear they wouldn't be running the sprints on the 3/8ths, it would have been a spectacular show.

That is true. Im glad walt is preping the track. I cant wait. I just hope they can pack the place. With the price of tickets for both nights lots of people will have to choose what they can see.

I haven't been to a race there but I have been to the track. It's right in the town of Hartford, looks like a decent place. I was thinking of making the trip up from Indy if there was going to be a decent car count. Maybe some of the Michigan guys will show up. Maybe USAC can reach out to the MTS drivers, and work something out with the temporary permit fees and such, that way there'd be around 30 cars.

If you are going, look at the Hartford web site . They have some road working going on in the area. Web site was a better way of getting there. I would ask how many USAC cars are going to travel up to the track? Do you think most will stay home and race local that weekend? Also remember we have had no rain this summer. The two tracks are not known for having wet, tacky tracks. So lack of rain is not a good thing. Not sure what one I will go to, would be cool to see the big blocks. But will they bring any cars with them for a one off race 10 hours from home?

To bad the Big Block Modifieds don't race at Hartford like they are at I-96 Speedway. Racing on big tracks is what their known for. Always seems like a good race when they show the "Rite Aid 200" on SPEED from the Moody Mile in Syracuse, New York.

So how many U.S.A.C. drivers are going to I-96 Speedway & Hartford Motor Speedway on August 10th & 11th?

We've had plenty of rainfall in West MI in the last week, there have been reports of as little as .5" and as great as nearly 3" of rainfall depending on the location just in the last week. I don't anticipate either of the tracks being "heavy" but they should be decent...

I stand corrected, 96 doesn't run this weekend so Mike and Walt will have more than enough time to get the half whipped into shape. I read on another forum that they have already started watering and reshaping in recent days. Good to see a MI track take a proactive approach on prep, that just doesn't happen up here.

That is very good to hear. Ya I will be there. We will try running both shows. I love the half mile at I96. After changing to the half mile it kinda sounds like some of the local guys are sitting in the stands.
