Shane won the third and final qualifying race at the Dirt Late Model Dream. By winning he made $1,000 and will start pretty far up in his heat race tomorrow night.
Stewy must have changed the qualifying format for the Dream since the last time we were there.
The last open wheel guy I remember having a shot at winning The Dirt Late Model Dream was Ol' Jack Hewitt back in 1994, which was the first year for the Dream. I think he started the A-Main on the front row and got taken out by Bloomquist very early in that race. Jack got a broken wrist outa' that deal and wasn't real happy with Scotty. I remember talking to Jack at The St. Henry Nightclub shortly after that and Jack told us with some colorful and candid language that Bloomy would need both sides of his big nose packed with gauze if he ever caught him away from Eldora. LOL!! I'm bettin' there are a lotta' folks who would have taken great joy from seeing that happen.
Here's to "The Throttle" makin' the A-Main and running up front!! Go get 'em Shane!
Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.
