this is the standard muffler most series use -

http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Schoen...fler,3496.html
Legal for use in ASCS sanctioned events, Knoxville IA, Eagle NE, W.o.O./UTDRA/SUPRA approved. Will create 100DB at 100 FT.

if these will work they are more affordable and more available.

Mandating a certain spec muffler that no other track is using is a great way to discourage people from coming...because most people will have to buy and carry another set of headers to use the muffler....anybody who's ever been DQed because a clamped on muffler fell off is going to weld theirs on from there on out...

The problem is...a track that has to watch their Ps and Qs with noise is caught between a rock and a hard place...because many of the mufflers being used pass the "Must have mufflers" rule but really don't do a good job of quieting the car....and we all know there are people who will gut a spec muffler to try to get an edge...

Tough call for a track like 35...they are trying to do the right thing by offering mufflers to some teams....a better investment may be a decent decible meter...that way somebody who already owned an effective set of mufflers would be able to prove that they work...

I hope it works out....good luck guys

This is a court order on mufflers for our race track and not what I want but what I have to live with and that is why if you have mufflers you can use an equivalent as the rule states meaning that you car is at 85dba at 100 feet measured outside the track which is what the Extreme mufflers will get to if you have an equal it is fine and we do have a dosimeter (sound meter).

WINGLESS SPRINT CARS MUST USE Extreme Technologies Muffler 180 for Sprint cars or equivalent.

thanks

Tony,
I would love to gas a Non-Wing Sprinter around your racetrack! I have been running Sprints for the last several years and last competed at 35 Raceway, at the old location in 1997. Also ran a few shows with you in 1996, including the 2-Day Mini-Sprint World Nationals! Man I miss those days!

Also FYI at 100 feet 104 DBA is no muffler per our sound study in 2005 and those other mufflers are not leagal at any Calif track where there is a noise rule like ours. thanks
