This is my first year in the sprint car world so I'm lookin for some input. I'm 6'3" I've got a Big Boy Maxim (A-frame moved back) but would like a bit more leg room. My knees are almost against the tubes so knee braces are practically impossible because it restricts me from getting in and out of the car. I have a KSE full gear in good working order. When driving the car I'm comfortable but that's w/o knee braces. My question is rather I should have KSE convert my older remote reservoir unit to the Gen 2 style while it's being freshened along with the pump or sell it as is and buy a used Gen 2? Apparently they no longer make the left tube reservoir conversions but they can eliminate the right tube. I've found that when I drop into the seat I tuck my left leg under and bend my right knee so with the right side gone it'd make a huge difference and I can get by with the matching knee guard for the left side. They can freshen the gear, pump, and convert it for about $500 where as a good used Gen 2 is $800+. I'm even open to a GME, Nields, etc. thanks for any tips you may have.

Just a sugestion, but how about dropping the steering lower in the chassis, that's what I did in the cars I built, then your knees are above the steering, and being bent back it puts the steering further away, and closer to your shins, makes a lot more room for "tall boys"! Bob!

Dale Blaney and Terry McCarl are the tall ones that come to mind. Good luck

I've spoke to Dale a few times. Very cool guy. The problem is that now he's runnin a GF1 and I imagine that when you're sponsored by the people building your car they probably build you the custom Dale Blaney special. I'm going to convert my existing box to a half box but really want to eliminate the remote reservoir and switch to the live tube style but KSE said they've quit making the hubs and the live tubes. Apparently they decided it easier and more profitable to just get you to buy a new Gen 2. I don't blame them but I can't swing $1500 right now. KSE said he can machine the right side down to fit the center mount bracket but can't do anything for converting it to a live tube. I also spoke to Butch at GME and he said he thought he could make all that happen but it'd run close to $700 and a guy can find a used Gen 2 for around $900 soooo I guess I'm to the point of wanting in one hand and $#!^^!*& in the other situation. I'm waiting to hear back from one more guy who thinks he might have the parts to do what I need. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks
