This Saturday is the memorial race for Steve Bowlen. For those of you who did not get the chance to meet him, Steve raced for about 20 years the first time around. He won several championships at Paragon and Sweet Owen and other tracks. He raced street stocks and then moved into a sprint car.
Due to the large family he had, he decided to take a break for around 10 years and enjoyed spending time with his family camping and horse riding.
But the racing bug never left him and he returned again to race super stocks. His love for the sport also made his three grandsons start to get the fever and they now all race superstocks.
The past October, Steve was killed in an gold cart accident. His entire family had already planned to go the the Fun Fair at Lawrenceburg prior to his death. They thought at first of not going, but knew he would want them to be there. The Lawrenceburg track held a moment of silence for the family. Although hard on the entire family, it was really hard for those three grandchildren to return this season but of course they did for him.
If your in the area, stop by Paragon and say hello to his family, I am sure they would appreciate it.
