I am looking for advice as when and where to take a trip out east. It doesn't have to be a WoO or the USAC swing. I like good open shows. Camping info welcome also. Thanks.

Does it have to be a Sprint car race? If not come to Grandview on the Saturday yea it's modifieds but trust me you will see more passing in 1 heat race than in a whole night of winged sprint car racing. That said, the Grove, Lincoln, Port Royal are all good tracks that you should get to. Hershey, Gettesburg and the afore mentioned EMMR Museum are all good things to go to. Come East for the [B]USAC[B] Tour, that would be the best if you like the real sprint car racing.

Thanks for the help. Yes I am looking to camp at the tracks as I usually end up drinking too much. What nights do the above tracks run sprints? Sorry but I wont sit through mods or late models. I live in east central Indiana and get to see several non wing and USAC shows a year. I want to check out the racing experience you get week in and week out. As I grow older I don't like to fight the crowds. I have skipped sprint week the last four years.

Williams Grove runs on Friday nights. Most night they run 410 and 358 sprints. Not uncommon to have 70 cars in the pits between the two. Trailways also runs 358 Sprints on Friday nights.
Saturday night you have many tracks to pick from for Sprints. Lincoln Speedway to the south often also has 410's and 358 Sprint along with Thunder Cars (Street Stocks). Port Royal runs 410 Sprints, Super Late Models and another class that can be different from week to week. Selinsgrove runs 358 sprints and two other stock car classes weekly. Williams Grove also races on Saturday about 15 times a year with Super Sportsman, 358 LM and Street Stocks.
No tracks run weekly on Sunday, but there are several special shows through the summer so it's possible to see a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday show. Grandview Speedway in eastern PA runs a series on several Wednesdays nights during the summer called Thunder on the Hill. You can see a good mix of open wheel divisions like sprints, ardc midgets and URC sprints plus DIRT Modifieds.
Harrisburg is a lot like Indianapolis were you can drive 60 miles in any direction and hit a number of tracks racing just about anything.

Lernerville has a great Friday night show. Winged sprints, big block modifieds, and dirt late models every week.
