Jason has always been fast. He set a record on the dirt at Butler that held for years and years. Am proud to say that I saw his first feature win.

Gee! I bet someone could come up with a bigger RR tire and a bigger engine and a bigger "wing" and go even faster ......... and then after that, I bet someone could find an even bigger RR tire and an even bigger engine and an even bigger "wing" and go faster yet......

Yep. That's what is called progress. Paul Clancey set the first 'track record' at Winchester at 28.6 seconds.

But we still list the time, and the driver. Not all the equipment that went along for the ride.

Jason Blonde, 13.467 seconds, 133.660 mph.

I sometimes think some people on here would be happy to go back to model t's and solid rubber tires.

Ironically, it was Old Timer's Weekend at Winchester this weekend. A slew of vintage cars, from midgets to Indy, including a Marmon Wasp replica. Gary Lee, Bob Jenkins and historian Donald Davidson were all on hand for the day. So to set the official track record on this weekend seemed pretty cool to me!
