Grain Valley, MO
Valley Speedway

Grain Valley is a 1/3 mile track on the eastern edge of Kansas City on I-70. The promoter is trying to reestablish weekly non wing sprint car racing in this area. He is in the second year of running non wing sprints weekly and even with marginal crowds and fields he has not given up. The show also has 600 micros and some weeks 1200', One week a month those run topless as well.

I hoping as many teams as fans heading back from the Dodge City shows will not pass up Valley and help keep non wing racing in this part of the country alive.

We have been waiting for years for USAC to return to Missouri. This may be a make or break show for non wing sprints in this area. I hope any teams or fans traveling through this part of the country will give Valley Speedway a try.

The real shame is that they couldn't have somehow worked a two-day Lakeside show into the same weekend that the Ron Shuman Classic was ran. Of all the races I've went to in the last couple of years that event, at that track was one of the most successful ones anywhere. Lakeside Speedway is a beautiful facility and a racy track.

I agree, Jerry. I always looked forward to the TnT show at Lakeside. Always superb track prep and large crowds. It was one of the rare occasions that we in this part of the country were treated to non-wing sprints.

Only thing you could race there are boats right now. Check out the photos on their website. Lakesidespeedway.net. Cant believe the flooding in this area.

I looked at the pictures, Jerry and it's still hard to believe. That's such a big place. I can't imagine how much water it must have taken to flood it that bad. To be all the way up to the bleachers like that, that water has to be deep in the middle of the track. Hopefully the track recovers from that.

The weather in KC is crazy this summer. Lakeside is completely flooded. The river is over its banks almost everywhere you look, but we have not had any decent rain in months. It is hard to understand how my favorite racetrack is flooded and the season is lost, but 75% of the lawns in the neighborhoods are dead because of a lack of water. Does not make sense.

Looking forward to the race at Valley. Bought my ticket last Friday night.

We were advised during sprint week that this had happened over there and to check which way you travel over there especially into nebraska by people from this area. The reason for the flooding and especially at Lakeside was they opened up some flood gates up north causing this problem kinda like the same thing done in southern IL earlier this summer. So it looks like there will no winner of the little red car trophy they award at Lakeside in 2011 hopefully it will be back in 2012 under some sanctioning body ???????

TnT Sprint Bandits was Emmett Hahn's deal, and it must not have made sense to continue with the series, either due to attendance or car counts. Or the ASCS people were just spread too thin. I was very disappointed when he confirmed to me at the Chili Bowl that there would be no Sprint Bandits in 2011. I went to two of the shows last year (Creek County and Lakeside, and while there were a handful of quality cars at both shows, the bulk of the fields were made up of local 360 runners. That's not a huge handicap at Creek County, but it's more difficult for them to be competitive on Lakeside's half mile.
