We will be there in the grandstands just as we have for the last 25 years, or more. Here's to hoping that the weather cooperates far better than it did in 2010.
The vintage race cars are a great and appropriate addition to the days racing activities every year at Springfield but especially so on this milestone year.
A very close friend of our family is 88 years young and has seen every Championship Dirt Car and Silver Crown race run during the State Fair at the Springfield Mile since racing resumed following WWII in 1947. This year figures to be the 65th race our friend will have seen at The Mile. He really enjoys the vintage cars and we wish to thank all the folks who put forth the effort to find, restore and put on display these beautiful rolling museum pieces for our entertainment.
Here's to having an infield overflowing with vintage racing machines with warm sunshine and no rain in sight at Springfield this year.
Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

Would vintage sprints and midgets be welcome?
