West Virginia Motor Speedway and K-C Raceway To Kick Off BOSS 2011 Season
After a record wet spring, the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series is ready to kickoff their 2011 season with back to back weekends at two of the midwest's finest racing facilities. The grand opener for the non wing BOSS tour is now slated for Saturday, July 9th at the newly reconfigured West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia. This will be a combined event with the winged All Star Circuit of Champions and billed as the "Wild and Wonderful Open Wheel Sprint Show". The winner will pocket $2,000 with a healthy payout back through the field and a guaranteed $300 to start the main event. Cars that make an attempt at racing, but failing to start the A-main will earn $150.
One week later, the BOSS tour will invade the high banks of Schrader's K-C Raceway located just south of Chillicothe, Ohio. The July 16th event will be the 2nd annual "Gene Comstock Memorial" and the winner will take home $1,200 with $225 paid to start the main event. Any driver that attempts to compete at K-C but fails to start the A-main will still get $100 for their efforts. This will mark the first wingless race at Schrader's K-C Raceway in nearly 15 years. The first Comstock Memorial was held last year as a winged event at a different track and the race was won by Cole Duncan. The event was moved to K-C Raceway for 2011 which is fitting because it is the only dirt track in Ohio still in operation that Gene Comstock raced and won on. Comstock won well over 300 events in both open wheel and stock cars and had a succesful career in NASCAR's Grand National and Modified Sportsman classes.
BOSS is also proud to announce that the open tire rule has been well supported by all 3 sprint car tire manufacturers. Drivers will be required to run the same right rear in the feature that they ran in their heat race, but any brand and compound can be used. Tire manufacturers have offered up incentives to drivers who run their tires by sponsoring bonus money at each event. In order to be eligible for the tire bonuses, drivers must have all four tires of the same brand on the car in the main event. The highest finishing drivers in the main event with all 4 of the same tires will receive certificates for $100 from their respective tire manufacturer. BOSS would like to thank Goodyear, American Racer, and Hoosier for supporting the series.
Series promoter Aaron Fry has also implemented a $100 bonus to the highest finishing steel block motor at each of the first 2 events. A "Hard Charger" award will also be given away at each event to the driver advancing the most positions in the A-Main. Series sponsors 2graf1c Race Cards and E.A. Home Supply will be presenting trophies to the winner of each event. More dates are being negotaited for August and September and will be announced shortly. More information can be found on the series' website at
