Well, at least Friday the weather was good. The wind straight from the south at what must of been 25 mph really drying out some areas of the track. But I must give ALOT of credit to Jiggs and the crew for getting the best possible surface he could.
Excellent conversation with Racechic66, talking about the Truckers team and the upcoming year. Was also great to meet Shortbus and Dirtfan and crew, also good conversation about, what else, sprint cars. (some mighty fine seats ya'll have there). Great to run into K.O. also, The one person that probably sees alot more races than I do in a year.
As for the races, I was really impressed with the run Dustin Morgan had. One thing that does stand out in my mind is Chad Boat in hot laps and that motor sounding like it was running RPM's comparable to a Formula 1 car, GHEEZ. Congrats to Shane Cottle on his victory. Personnel hard charger award to Dave Darland.
Saturday at Twin Cities, and what a change in weather! As I said in an earlier post was nice to talk to Scott Hampton, Billy Puterbaugh, and Joss Moffatt. Joss talked about the previous night at Bloomington and what a surprise it was Tim Keading was there. My thought of 18 cars was mostly IMO just the iffy weather. Was spiting on and off the first hour and ahalf that I was there. Rudy, Mel and myself kept getting the question of: When you going to open up at Lawrenceburg? Well.. heres the answer.... When its done. The paving on the track is to begin Monday. ( There, that'll get some going :rolling :rolling ) As for the racing, IMO, damn good. Track was pretty hard and gettin black slicky, but with a BoB Late model show supposedly the night before, Mason Fleetwood and crew did an admirable job. Congrats to Brady Short. Jeff Bland Jr. can be described to me only as a "stand on it" driver.
One really good week for me, only one regret, my son wasn't with me to enjoy it. Hope to meet and talk to some more I.O.W ers in the upcoming year.
